Masterpiece Lyrics
Too bad you knew me. I wasn't ready. I wasn't ready. Did I say come and get me? Too bad I held on...when you tried to tell me. This was wrong. This is wrong. I am no masterpiece where innocence is painted green. Isn't it strange to think how you created all of me?
Done by the hands of a broken artist. You painted black where my naked heart is? Now I finally know what "wrong" is. Now I finally know that you bleed for nothing. Carved like a stone with your hands still shaking. Shown on display through a soul still breaking. Aren't you proud you're the one that made me? Aren't you proud you're the one that made me.......
You can't erase these lines you can't save me. You can't display me. You know what "dismay" means. Can't even try to remember what I knew. Before I became your model to claim no.
I am no masterpiece...so strange that you made all of me.
I grew tired. You expired. You finished me. Now that I'm all that you planned. What do you think?

wowies, first comment.
i think this song is about a girl who dated this guy and all he did was change her. eventually she wasnt anything like she was before.
This song is definitely about a relationship that has passed...and in the process she was recreated. I think, maybe, that she had tried to keep him...and thought that if she was everything that he wanted he would still want her...and it just didn't work like that. But, here she is a new "masterpiece." I can relate. And it's one of my favorites.
the end of a relationship. i imagine that to be in the relationship in the first place was a huge step for the girl. she was obviously changed by the relationship and took on new points of view "can't even try to remember what i knew"
the way i see it she feels betrayed by this broken artist because he stole from her innocence and her original beauty as a masterpiece.
anywho, good song. one of my favs off the album
I heard that this song was about God.... "I am no masterpiece...so strange that you made all of me." I sounds like it fits, although I'm not saying that Meg and Dia writes religious songs
the lyrics seem to suggest failure of the artist to create a good product. This would fit well with Meg and Dia being atheists.

yep i think its about god to" Isn't it strange to think how you created all of me?" "I grew tired. You expired. You finished me. Now that I'm all that you planned. " i like this song
umm I think the one part is wrong, to me it sounds like she's saying "now I finally know what wrong is" twice instead of saying "now I finally know you bleed for nothing".
It sounds like: Can't even try to remember what I knew before I became your model of clay, no.
I don't think this song is about god at all...then the whole first part would not make any sense. I think it's about a relationship where the guy totally changed her...maybe because things he did or the way he treated her. Then she became someone totally different and maybe did things back because of the way he treated her...that's why she's saying she's not innocent, and that the way she is, is what he created. :)
I def think it's about a guy. I would think she was young or that this was her first serious relationship since she says she wasn't ready. However, I think she wanted to be ready, I mean, noone wants to be alone right? But it obviously didn't work the way she'd hoped.
In an interview, Dia said that it's not about God since they're Agnostic and Athiest. She said it was about Meg's ex-boyfriend.
