Give Me Strength Lyrics

Sitting in the rain alone
Looking at a place that's gone
Boarding up my memories
But something's drawn me here again
And I can not leave the past alone

I hope that I would never find
All the shit I left behind
Now I find the child in me
Is going to remind me
That I can't forget my past for long

So take a look outside yourself
And tell me what you see
I can't believe that you won't see
The change in me

Give me strength
To find
The road that's lost in me
Give me time
To heal
And build myself a dream
And give me eyes
To see
The world surrounding me
And give me strength
To be
Only me

I don't wanna hear the things
You say you know all you've redeemed.
Cause I can't change what's come before
I built myself some better dreams
And cast off the fear that holds me here

So take a look outside yourself
And tell me what you see
Cause I can't believe that you won't see
The change in me

Give me strength
To find
The road that's lost in me
Give me time
To heal
And build myself a dream
And give me eyes
To see
The world surrounding me
And give me strength
To be
Only me

Being the first one to comment on this song, I'm assuming that not many people have managed to find Odds and Ends. This is one of the better songs in my opinion.

This song always made me think of person who isn't proud of their past, and is asking for the strength to move on in their life.

Yeah, it's really unfortunate that it's such a rare song.

I, for one, think that this is the best song on Odds & Ends (and many are really good), so I really regret not finding it sooner.

Personally, I'd love to see this song see the light officially at some point, as a B-side, re-release, live version... pretty much anything would be nice.

Over The Rhine covered it on their sixth album, Films for Radio. It's more of an attempt to reproduce the song. Instrumentally it sounds almost exactly the same, and the vocals are sung in a way that really resemble the original.

i heard this song on Third Watch. it's the best song and too bad it's so rare. i'd pay to have it too.
