Blinded By The Sun Lyrics

How would you feel if i was to kneel right down at your feet?
Right now is the way it's going to be from now until forever,
Let's have less of getting clever with me

Who would you blame for blowing the flame right out, is it me?
There is no doubt i can do what i want to do from now until forever,
Let's have less of getting clever with me

You're wasting your time and my time as well,
Living a lie i guess that time will tell,
You're making excuses for the things you've never done,
You're walking in circles blinded by the sun,
Blinded by the sun

Who would you blame for blowing the flame right out, is it me?
There is no doubt i can do what i want to do from now until forever,
Let's have less of getting clever with me

You're wasting your time and my time as well,
Living a lie i guess that time will tell,
You're making excuses for the things you've never done,
You're walking in circles blinded by the sun,
Blinded by the sun

I don't mean to sound unkind to you,
You'll just have to go and find something else to do,
And don't ask me what went wrong,
The list goes on and on...

This is a seriously underated song and I can't believe people haven't already commented on it. I know The Seahorses weren't a great band by all means but John Squire plays some killer guitar on some of the songs and this is one of them. The album they released called Do It Yourself was pretty poor and only had a few decent tunes on there but you could see the potential was there if they stayed together. In terms of the lyrics well I think its about being in a relationship with someone and cracks are appearing in it. The relationship isn't going anyhere hence the lyric "You're walking in circles blinded by the sun." Maybe one person is completly living in their own world which is straining the relationship.

Seems to be about a massively one-sided relationship. The lyrics seem to reek of a terrible arrogance and I feel sorry for the subject of this song. I always heard John was still in a massive coke-head phase with this album, the same one responsible for 'The Second Coming'. Still, I am sure there is a deeper theme in here somewhere, cant just be, 'i'm a talented musician star, you are blinded by my brilliance, you love me but I am bored of you, fuck off'

I think it was directed at Ian Brown and the break up of the Roses. A brilliant, somewhat bitter song.

@Salty3180 I remember thinking that too when I first heard it until I discovered it was actually written by Chris Helme when he was busking before ever meeting John Squire and being recruited into his new band. Great song - and I bet many of us assumed the lyrics were a parting shot to Ian as they word work so well as such. It just goes to prove how any art can be interpreted differently by everyone who witnesses it.
