I think this song means that when you have a great a person in your life, its like you're already home. Being with that person makes you closer to home.

Love this song! And I think it's about being far away from "home", which can mean literally the home where you live or "home" as in "home is where your heart is", i.e. someone you love. Home can also be something about safety. In can be interpreted in many ways, really.
But I think that the verses seem to be a little... disjointed, from the chorus. Can't really say what they mean.
And btw, have to say that my favorite part is where she sings, "And who can heal those tiny broken hearts?"<33
