What Are You To Me? Lyrics
(Day dream...day dream...)
Day dream...(day dream...)
So many times i've overflowed
So many faces come and go
I play my cards into the sun
and try to work out
What you are to me
To me
Been here before
A million open doors
Only one will set me free
So i fall against the wall
And try to work out
What you are to me, to me, to me, to me...
To me......
Inside my eyes
The answer lies
Something i can't see
Another day
Another way
It's the same to me, to me
To me..., to me..., to me...
(what's wrong?)
To me... (to me...)
To me... (to me...)
To me... (to me...)
To me... (to me...)
Day dream...(day dream...)
So many faces come and go
I play my cards into the sun
and try to work out
What you are to me
A million open doors
Only one will set me free
So i fall against the wall
And try to work out
What you are to me, to me, to me, to me...
The answer lies
Something i can't see
Another day
Another way
It's the same to me, to me
To me... (to me...)
To me... (to me...)
To me... (to me...)

this song is gorgeous... the melody is so simple, but it reminds me of a sunny day.... haha im way to sentimental. his voice is beautiful. this seems like perfect makeout music
The lyrics are addressing the significance of another person. The lyricist does not seem to have a great affection for the person. There is not a passage addressing this, he or she is only working out what the other is to his or her person.
Also, the lyricist seems to have an excessive amount of free time (in my opinion). This can be shown when questioning what a million open doors are. There are not a million open doors to address, and he says that he has been there before. Also how does one overflow, play cards into the sun, or have answers in his or her eyes? Again this is about the status of a relationship. The rest of the song is not applicable to a real life scenario.
To me this song is about what happens when you get to the point of reflecting over past experiences. While daydreaming he’s reminiscing about his life. He’s had many emotional experiences good and bad with many different types of people. But while basking in the sun he’s trying to give or attach meaning to the people in his life. He’s been in this situation before; there are many answers but only one solution but gets frustrated trying to find it. He knows the answer is there but still doesn’t see it, all the while giving up today and fighting tomorrow in possible hope of another experience allowing new perspectives. However he’s already been down that road leaving him to feel that his efforts are a bit futile. Then a woman ask “what’s wrong?” and the “to me” starts to sound a little different.
See if you can find any of the morals in this story and let me know. Till next song.
I'd also like to hear your thoughts about what happens at the end. That'd be great. Thanks.
and what the "answer" could be possibly be.
