well, for anyone who watches the show, the episode for this song was about how Jude's (Alexz's) older sister having problems with her boyfriend (also Jude's producer.
so this song sort of means to me a friend/sister/whomever being in pain because someone is putting themselves in a bad situation relationshipwise, or any other way, because the onlooker does not understand the other person's reasons for putting themselves in such situations.
In this episode , when she is talking to tomming about hte song she says its about : "About Watching helplessly as love falls apart"

i highly doubt it's about drugs. because in the show - i know the song is for people who don't watch the show too, but seriously - she's singing about spiederman.
