The Party Scene Lyrics
Hey, kid, you've got
A lot of potential
But I think it's time to move up
So go on and blow us away
With your sound
Now you're everything
That we've come to love
Taught us to move
Now we'll show it off
Just drop us a beat
Here's to the fast times
The times we felt alive
To all the nights
That we forgot to get back home
Stay seventeen
The party scene has got
The best of me and you
We've got to let this go
Drink up
Last call before the sunrise sets the scene
Of empty bottles, heavy hearts
The memories of broken dreams
We were so tired yet so alive
Wrapped up in lies like sheets
Of another one night stand
You know you left the girl
With nothing but the
Sunrise through the window pane
Where tired eyes will close
Stay seventeen
The party scene has got
The best of me and you
We've got to let this go
I know she hopes I choke on
This last drink
Drop dead before my influence
Gets to her head
She said, "I'll love you forever
Or find something better
It's all just the same
As when we sleep together
We wake up with headaches
And trouble remembering
What went wrong."
Stay seventeen
The party scene has got
The best of me and you
We've got to let this go
A lot of potential
But I think it's time to move up
So go on and blow us away
With your sound
Now you're everything
That we've come to love
Taught us to move
Now we'll show it off
Just drop us a beat
The times we felt alive
To all the nights
That we forgot to get back home
The party scene has got
The best of me and you
We've got to let this go
Last call before the sunrise sets the scene
Of empty bottles, heavy hearts
The memories of broken dreams
Wrapped up in lies like sheets

You know you left the girl

drunken sex. he leaves her before she wakes up. she doesn't let go the fact that she let the party scene [that she let him] get the best of her [and him]. and how he knows she has enough potential to be with someone that matters, someone that isn't him.
the song is pretty blunt.. but it makes me happy in a sad sorta way.
Hey, kid You've got a lot of potential But I think it's time to move up So go on and blow us away with your sound Now you're everything that we've come to love You taught us to move Now we'll show it off Just drop us the beat (basically describes the atmosphere in a way."just drop us the beat", something to dance to)
Here's to the fast times, the times we felt alive To all the nights that we forgot to get back home (i can back up this line with my own experience."the nights we forgot to get back home" is about waking up at the house where the party was,or somewhere strange to you because you were drunk the night before at the party."the fast times, the nights we felt alive" is self explanatory really.it's just saying when your at the partys you lose yourself, your living fast but having fun).
Stay seventeen The party scene has got the best of me and you We've got to let this go (when your 17 your big on the whole partying thing, and i don't think theres much more meaning in it than that)
Drink up Last call before the sunrise sets the scene Of empty bottles, heavy hearts The memories of broken dreams
We were so tired yet so alive Wrapped up in lies like sheets of another one night stand You know you left the girl with nothing but the Sunrise through the window pane Where tired eyes will close (tells us what's like in the partys the next day.the "last call", "sunrise, "empty bottles" are saying it's morning, people are finishing off the drink. "heavy hearts, memories of broken dreams" is saying that people are sobering up,noticing the damage from last night, maybe regretting stuff they did.the last part is about the one night stands, and people falling asleep as the sunrises.)
Stay seventeen The party scene has got the best of me and you We've got to let this go
I know she hopes I choke on this last drink Drop dead before my influence gets to her head She said, "I'll love you forever, or find something better." It's all just the same as when we sleep together We wake up with headaches and trouble remembering What went wrong (it's yet again about drunken one night stands, and the reality of waking up next to someone, feeling hungover and trying to piece together how you ended up sleeping together.)
Stay seventeen The party scene has got the best of me and you We've got to let this go
(this whole song describes "the party scene" exactly to the point.awesome song and easy for anyone who's around 16-17 to relate to.
Well, obviously, this song is about how kids need to learn how to respect themselves while out there putting themselves in dangerous situations, specifically drinking. You can get worn out easily and make a lot of mistakes that you'll regret, and hurt those you love.
"i'll love you forever or find something better. it's all just the same as when we sleep together. we wake up with headaches, and trouble remembering what went wrong."
^love itttttttttt.
This song was amazing live. I personally think though that it's about growing up. You can't stay 17 forever, eventually you have to start living in the real world.
I agree with all the above posts. I think its about growing up, and how you can't just constantly make stupid mistakes. You have to let go of the times when you were 17 when all you did was party and get drunk. 'Stay seventeen, The party scene has got the best of me and you, We've got to let this go...' Basically like saying 'welcome to the real world kids'. This is my favorite song from the album. I can't wait for these guys to get big =]
this song is soo good
espech as i heard it the day before i turned 17 so it has umpteen more value for me!
This song just pretty much says
"Seventeen was fun, enjoy it, because eventually you'll have to grow up, and its gunna suck. So here's to then."
i think its about when the band is on tour when they were 17 and about the times they had on tour... i dont know haha
