Twelve Lyrics
Facts based on Einstein and his followers
This had to work, he was an educated man
All the equations were perfectly
Arranged so he could have a front row seat now
And your conscience is low
And your conscience is
Burning a path for us to share
Clothes draped on silos near the Emperor's gate now
And your conscience is low
Conscience is low.
But he couldn't find another way
He searched for years but yet he couldn't find the answer
A bleeding afterbirth of what was done
Still lurked in shadows and appeared on every corner.
Give me a call, give me a call
Give me a call so I can teach you a lesson
Give me a call, give me a call
Give me a call so I can give you a reason to stay
And your conscience is low
Conscience is low.
Ninety nine
Two hundred and five
Pyrite
Trickles down the spines of those
Without their enemies
Real or not, the spine still tingles it
So predictable but I hope you're aware
That people will notice this forgery.
And your conscience is low
Conscience is low
But he couldn't find another way
He searched for years but yet he couldn't find the answer
Give me a call, give me a call
Give me a call so I can give you a reason to stay
And your conscience is low
Conscience is low.

YES. First comment.
I love these guys. Serious. The singing's pretty damn intense, too. BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS.
These guys played just round the corner the other day, supporting We Are Scientists...I didn't go. Dang, I was so upset I missed it...
Oh yeah? Well, FIRST LYRICS!
Hah. Anyway, the most convincing interpretation of this one I have heard is that it's about Einstein's guilt because of his involvement in creating the atomic bomb.
I saw them in Edinburgh at the end of last year and it was one of the best nights of my life. Great music and I was there with great people :]
Good stuff.
Yeah it is about the creation of the atomic bomb, it was my first impression of the song and it makes sense. Lines such as "clothes draped on SILOS" (missile silos) and "But he couldn't find another way" (another way to end WW2). It all points towards it.
Although it's definitely about the bomb, I think it's more likely to be specifically about Robert Oppenheimer. Einstein wouldn't be too likely to specify facts "based on Einstein and his followers". Oppenheimer's guilt at what became of his creation was well-known: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Oppenheimer This is why I love Forward Russia: they're not scared of being seen as 'pretentious', they just write about what they feel is important without the need to peddle rawk'n'roll cliches like Johnny Borrell.
Yes, the line about the Emperor's gate fits with an attack on Japan.
