Inside Job Lyrics
Underneath this smile lies everything
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame
Make myself a pact not to shut doors on the past
Just for today I am free
I will not lose my faith
It's an inside job today
I know this one thing well…
I used to try and kill love. the highest sin
Breathing insecurity out and in
Searching hope, I'm shown the way to run straight
Pursuing the greater way for all human light.
How I choose to feel is how I am.
How I choose to feel is how I am.
I will not lose my faith
It's an inside job today
Holding on, the light of night
On my knees to rise and fix my broken soul
Again
Let me run into the rain
To be a human light again
Let me run into the rain
To shine a human light today
Life comes from within your heart and desire
Life comes from within my heart and desire
Life comes from within your heart and desire
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame
Make myself a pact not to shut doors on the past
Just for today I am free
It's an inside job today
Breathing insecurity out and in
Pursuing the greater way for all human light.
How I choose to feel is how I am.
It's an inside job today
On my knees to rise and fix my broken soul
Again
To be a human light again
To shine a human light today
Life comes from within my heart and desire
Life comes from within your heart and desire

i love this song. mccready did an awesome job. go mccready.
Absolutely Incredible! The song starts oh-so slowly with Boom's organ, and from there each instrument slowly joins in, steadily building, each impacting you in a meaningful way; Gossard's acoustic, Boom's Piano, Ament's Bass, then Eddie's Vocals, each one's entrance washing over you like a wave, all leading up to McCready entering with his electric, leading you completely out of the darkness created in the beginning of the song straight into the light, to me this song is operatic, I connect with it on so many levels, and there honestly couldn't have been any other way to end the album, How I Choose To Feel Is How I Am
Last song, and he didn't say FUCK once on this album, other than that it's awesome...
Introspection. This song is a beautiful description of the 12 step program, in a way. Mike McCready should be very proud, for many reasons, including this song.
Mike McCready you fucking genius, when's the solo album out? I just wanna hear him sing now!
This si the first song that Mike wrote from top to bottom,...
Everything is his work, the musical compositions and the lyrics,... all Mike McCready,...
Good God this song is fucking amazing,...
What a way to end an amazing album, it's so great o find Pearl Jam "relevant" to the mainstream again,....
Perhaps this will get people into their later more experimental stuff,...
but this song is basically just about being yourself and accepting who you are regardless of what choices or circumstances surround your life, that there is no excuse not to live it,...
McCready is a fantastic songwriter,...who's just pretty much let us in as to how much of a "Secret Weapon" he really is,..
So glad to see Mike McCready writing so much stuff on the new album. As NO CODE said, this song is all Mike, and what a way to end a spectacular record. I think the major aspect of this album is being so praised by press and fans has to be Mike's participation on it, considering he did not do much in the past two records.
not only did McCready write a "Srumptulecent" song (snl skit about inside the actors studio) but as did Stone Gossard with "Paraschutes" anyways...i agree with no code that its about being yourself and acting your age and not your shoe size and self acceptance.
I especially like the piano that they used. I have heard them use it few, if any times. McCready is a rock TITAN!!! i cant wait to see them on tour.
I thought this song would have more comments, it's easily the best song on the album.
