Come Back Lyrics

If I keep holding out
Will the light shine through?
Under this broken roof
It's only rain that I feel
I've been wishin' out the days
Oh oh oh
Come back

I have been planning out
All that I'd say to you
Since you slipped away
Know that I still remain true
I've been wishin' out the days
Please say that if you hadn't have gone now
I wouldn't have lost you another way
From wherever you are
Oh oh oh oh
Come back

And these days, they linger on, yeah, yeah
And in the night, I've been waiting for
A real possibility that I may meet you in my dreams
I go to sleep

If I don't fall apart
Will my memory stay clear?
So you had to go
And I had to remain here
But the strangest thing to date
So far away and yet you feel so close
I'm not going to question it any other way
It must be an open door for you
To come back

And the days they linger on, yeah
Every night I'm waiting for
The real possibility that I may meet you in my dreams
Sometimes you're there and you're talking back to me
Come the morning I could swear you're next to me
And it's ok

It's ok, it's ok

I'll be here
Come back, come back
I'll be here
Come back, come back
I'll be here
Come back, come back
Oooooooo
Oooooooo
Oooooooo
Oooooooo

This songs seems to be the second part of the amazing song of the movie big fish.... the man of the hour, a very sad song, but the diference its tha this one speaks about the other side of the mirror, the first, the man of the hour talks about the men that is dying and his life, this one speak about the pain of wantin that person back.....that deep deep deep pain.

@TheBible I think Other Side is a pretty spot on mirror song to Come Back. A couple, one alive one dead...

Well they hit it right on the head,...

I took a little road trip up to Toronto last night, to see them perform,...

They played this song, and blew the album version to hell,... And the ALBUM version is AMAZING!!!!

This is easily one of their best songs EVER, anything negative I have ever said about the album because of it's relative lack of slow or mellow songs in comparison to Albums like No Code or Riot Act, pretty much went the way of the Dodo last night with Eddie belting this song out,..

This song was the highlight of a night I will remember for the rest of my life,..

It's ok, Come back, I'll be here,...

and then the harmonizing,... simply amazing,...

That conclusion with Eddie crying Come Back,... and then his harmonizing with McCready,...

Oh my God,... This song is soo gorgeous,....

Anyone else think the song starts off reminiscent of some of Clapton's early slow stuff?

Good God I love this song,...

i thought it had a high-school-dance-feel to it too! but i really love this song! the ending is awesome! for some reason i never thought of it as a person dying. i kind of invisioned just a young couple and one of them is moving away. its so sad! but so good!

This song is a continuation of Army Reserve - much like the rest of the album, it keeps the war constantly in the background.

It's a chat between the wife and the memory of her husband. ...the imagery of the broken roof in the family structure is pretty intense.

A beautiful piece that's really reminiscent of '50s rock. It's got those Earth Angel qualities, and I suppose it's Pearl Jam's official take on Last Kiss, which is from the same era as the chord/melody structure in this song.
