I used to be crustacean
In an underwater nation
And I surf in celebration
Of a billion adaptations
Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave
Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave
I feel the need
Planted in me
Millions of years ago
Can't you see
The oceans size?
Defining time
And tide
Arising
Arms laid upon me
Being so kind
To let me ride
I scream in affirmation
Of connecting dislocations
And exceeding limitation
By achieving levitation
Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave.
Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave.
I feel the need
planted in me
Millions of years ago
Can't you see
The oceans size?
Defining time
And tide
Arising
Arms laid upon me
Being so kind
To let me ride
Got me a ride
I got me a ride
In an underwater nation
And I surf in celebration
Of a billion adaptations
Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave

Only Pearl Jam has enough depth to write a song that's as good as this, but compared to their other songs, looks less than average. Definitely not my favorite Pearl Jam song but it's a cool little song in its own right.
Eddie is a surfer and oceans conservationalist, Big Wave is probably rooted in that.
Wow "conservationalist", I cant believe I wrote that considering I'm a big CONSERVATIONIST myself. Dammit. Anyways yeah this song is about Eddie's love for the ocean. Save the Whales, the Sharks, and all that :D

Nice song, it looks like it's about surfing... Anyone else noticed it sounds similair to Soundgarden's My Wave.
When Eddie Vedder is "between" songs, he goes to a seculded beach where he owns a house. He spends his time surfing to get away from everything else, it's just him and the ocean..
Now I don't know if this is even Eddie's song but it seems to me that it's about his appreciation for the ocean and the waves he rolls in his "free" time, and how it inspires him to write.
This is one of my favorites of the new album. The sheer brutality is amazing. I don't think it sounds too much like SG's song. This sounds much faster and goes straight for the gut. Though I do like both songs.
This song I think is the most under rated on the new album. It's just amazing to hear Eddie sing about his love for surf in this hard rocker!!
it sounds really good, i just dont think it can compare to the rest... the chorus is really catchy
Probably the best song on the album but since wen has it been underrated?
the best song on the album?!?!?!?!?
i thought this song was the only letdown on the album
Definetely not a letdown in the album...but not the best either. Great Song...knowing that Eddie probably loves it since it's about his love for surf
im not saying i dont like it... but if you look at all the quality songs on the cd... this is a letdown, at least for me
