The Enemy Lyrics

So far dishonest as the day is long
Im sorry so I’ll go now
But I love you so it wont be long
And the spectres in the masonary remind us of the things that might have been

Isn’t it time you washed your face
It looks like a burnt out fireplace
And I am awash with memories
And worrying complexities

But in time (in time)
You’ll find it very scary
It’s hard to live respectfully

The Enemy as I know it is right inside my head
The Enemy as I know it is right inside my head

Everyones still all over the place
And not to humble to embrace
And oh my gosh the memories
But your arrogance perplexes me

Now this time (this time)
I shouldn’t be so lary
Just try to live respectfully

The Enemy as I know it is right inside my head
The Enemy as I know it is right inside my head

So are you giving it a shot now
And it all came back and you did a little turn now

Well they didn’t like that
Are you going to give it up for?
(And the spectres in the masonary remind us of the things that might have been)

All you need’s a gentle heart
To see you through endless dark
All you need's a gentle heart
To see you through endless dark

The Enemy as I know it is right inside my head
The Enemy as I know it is right inside my head
The Enemy as I know it is right inside my head
The Enemy as I know it is right inside my head

This song has an awesome beat. I would just about kill to see them live. Shame, they played just down the road back in Feb, but I didn't know about them then - Gah.

Dis iz lik totaly bout Peter Doughtery! (well someone had to do it)

About 'Evil Carl' again. With Didz singing it makes me think it's about him and Carl overcoming 'Evil Carl' together which is sweet:-

'Isn’t it time you washed your face It looks like a burnt out fireplace'

Sounds like Didz being a friendly nag to Carl

'And I am awash with memories And worrying complexities'

Sounds very much like Carl, such a worrywart, thinking about the past

Also how Didz' 'gentle heart' got Carl through the 'endless dark' (depression) after The Split.

I love the line 'not too humble to embrace'. Sums up the band quite well, very touchy-feely.

To be honest dillygirl this is all going a bit far.

Most people who are dirty pretty things fans will actually know that all of their songs aren't about peter.

Yet there's no getting away from the fact that people will constantly lable dpt songs to be bitching about him.

It is a sad fact, but please stop patronising the masses.

This song helped me through an awkward time.

Lets give it the praise it deserves! Rather than slating everyone who thinks Carl Barat doesnt have a life outside pete.

A brilliant song :o) very moving.

Aww, it's too easy though! The site isn't about giving songs praise or taking the piss out of peoples stupidity (though both are fun), it's song /meanings/ which I think I've done actually ^^.
