Surprised no-one's mentioned the song title, or can everyone speak french!? I can't Have loved this song for well over a decade, bought a piano just so I could learn to play this song, and only just now did I look up the translation of the song title: French: comptine d'un autre été l'apres midi English: Nursery Rhyme from Another Summer Afternoon. Perfect.

I don't find this song sad. I find it reverent.

I have. One of my favorite movies--it is so amazingly beautiful. All the music is beautiful, too. Bit morbid, but when I heard this before I had seen Amelie, it struck me as good music to kill yourself to.

this is my favorite piano composition ever.

I love this song. So much. I found the sheet music for it, and was surprised by how easy it was to play and pick up. It is so much easier to play than it sounds. I've already memorised it, from only playing a few times! Such an amazing piece with a wonderful, haunting melody. A definite favourite.

This is a beautiful compostion; I am actually in the works of playing and memorizing it myself. It is much simpler than one would think.
