Hear what I say
I'm gonna get out of my mind
Where I'm going to be on your way
Your spirit is calling after
Will I disappear?
Everything dies, nothing to worry about
Everything goes on, goes on, goes on

I just don't know why everything has to go away
I just don't know why everything has to fade away
I cannot escape
There's nothing more I can do
I just don't know why do I need you?

See what I see
I'm going to get out of my mind
What am I going to… no more, no more
I'm ready to go serene to find
There's nothing to hold to reach you
Everything dies, nothing to worry about
Everything goes on, goes on, goes on

I just don't know why everything has to go away
I just don't know why everything has to fade away
I cannot escape
There's nothing more I can do
I just don't know why do I need you?

I just don't know why everything has to go away
I just don't know why everything has to fade away
I cannot escape
There's nothing more I can do
I just don't know why do I need you?

I just don't know why everything has to go away
I just don't know why everything has to fade away
I cannot escape
There's nothing more I can do
I just don't know why do I need you?

I LOVE THIS SONG...I think it's about how death takes away what we love...yet no matter how hard we hold on everything else seems to keep going without those we cared for

I do agree, there is a topic of death that is presented in this song. But I think it's in a more metaphorical sense, rather than simply being someone dying. Kinda like how in Tarot, the Death card is symbolic of approaching change.

To me, this song is very angry, very bitter-sounding. The singer is in a bad relationship of some kind, whether romantic, familial, or friendship, and she's finally had it. She isn't going to keep quiet anymore, she won't just sit there and take whatever abuse is thrown at her. She's mad as hell, and she isn't going to take it anymore! The second part is the affirmation that things are always changing, and yet life continues the way it always has.

I find the chorus interesting. I think the first two lines are her lamenting the changes that are occuring in her life, wondering why everything that was familiar to her has to change the way it is. The third line reminds me of something an abuser might say to their victim - "You can't escape, you can't fight back. I have all the power, you have nothing". And the fourth line is a response to the third, with her basically telling this person to eff the hell off, that she doesn't need them in her life anymore.

Very bitter-sounding lyrics at times, but an awesome song!

^agrees These songs (not all of them, obviously) off Karmacode have a Korn sound to them, I think. Like the bass and the riffs, for example.

I agree with agelicsabyne, and for me it sounds awesome all the time. And yes, the whole Karmacode sounds a little like Korn, but it's still Lacuna Coil, and I think if you've heard their previous work you should recognize their style easily.

Korn would certainly sound better if they had a more... um... melodic supplement to their vocals. I definitely hear the Korn sound.

I'm a big fan of everything Lacuna Coil had done before this album, but I think that they went a little overboard with the whole 'modern American' sound. The album is still growing on me (even though I bought it over a year ago), but I don't think it'll ever match their previous works.

that Korn sound is the bass. in this album Marco Zelati (sp?) used a different bass rig (his live equipment) which gives it that sound. i actually happen to like the heavier sound, where the bass shakes the room.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
