Catform Lyrics

Legless, with the powerder puff
you’ve got light, still cannot read
and the mattress is two bored-out eyes
supposed to be a lightening bolt
but as I lie in bed
it’s been middle class
middle thoughts, middle as C

tantric forms of intercourse
no divorce, drunk as a horse
and the waitress is the only one
who can speak and say what she means
as I lie awake
it’s been Camelot
I can a lot, it’s kennel and key

as she’s waiting
stroking my hair
choking places
stroking my tie

princes with the dollar eyes
morning fries and light-up TV
and advances in the sweater vest
picking homes, picking out cheese
as i lie to them
second wallabee
second son
what happened to me

this is the most amazing song!! it really expresses a feeling of discontent ... there's a lot about "lying in bed" and "lying awake" and then "lie to them"... like discontentedness about the person he is... maybe all the stuff about being "middle" is about feeling average or not good enough?

I love songs that I can barely understand...mostly they mean more the me than words that make sense. I can see the discontent and feeling of averageness...and I likes it!

The last set of verses are definetley about someone who puts on that fake image to fit in and they regret it.

I think the song is about someone who starts off or is born middle class, but doesn't want to be it anymore, then becomes rich and realizes that they aren't happy, but pretend they are.

this is easy. it's about affairs, having a second/secret family/life, and feeling like shit about it.

I don't see anything to suggest something about a "second family" or an affair... this song seems to be from the point of view of a discontented member of the middle class... just a regular guy who lives in the suburbs but isn't happy with his life, it kinda makes me think of the 50s and how everyone wore a tie with the wife and kids at home in their house in the suburbs, the american dream. "but as I lie in bed it’s been middle class middle thoughts, middle as C"

tantric forms of intercourse- I think this is like when he and his wife get mad at each other and have make-up sex or just angry sex no divorce, drunk as a horse- he won't divorce and get out of the marriage that he feels imprisoned by, probably because he doesn't know what else to do, instead he just gets drunk and the waitress is the only one who can speak and say what she means- he envies her as I lie awake it’s been Camelot- i think this has a double reference, one sarcastically saying that this hasn't been the fairy tale i imagined and the other maybe comparing his life to the "Camelot" of JFK and Jackie Kennedy (dysfunctional)
