Heaven Tonight Lyrics

Down the line
Don't go over
There's a limit
You went over

So much time
Time runs out
Time ran out
Make it down

Would you like to go to heaven tonight?
Would you like to go heaven tonight?

Down the line
Couldn't get much
Couldn't get much
Higher if you tried

And tried...
And tried...

You're as guilty
It's a crime
Oh, it's a crime

Would you like to go to heaven tonight?
Would you like to go to heaven tonight?

You can never come down, you can never come down, you can never come down, you can never come down

You can never come down, you can never come down, you can never come down, you can never come down

Down inside
You're getting nervous
You've never been this high before
Oh!

Some of Cheap Trick's early songs had a definite suicide theme... "Oh Candy" and "Auf Wedersehen" to name two... I always considered that this song was about suicide, too. But I could go with the OD'ing on heroin idea, too.

Great song... one of the finest examples of 1970's pop-art-rock. I would love to see this done live, with a orchestra.. the same way Led Zep did with "Kashmir". It would also make an awesome soundtrack to some death scene in a movie.

@ksandbergfl This album actually turned me off to suicide when I was 13 or 14.

I think it's about not doing too much heroin at once or for too long... oh no, you just OD'ed and died, shit. Or, "oh no, I've been a junkie for 10 years, shit....'. Maybe I'm wrong but I think it's definitely about some sort of drug and where it will take you, eventually.
