Pilot Lyrics

I want to be a pilot
Sail across the air
Floating through the aftermath of dreams I never shared
Now I see you
Standing in my dreams
And yet I think about the place I want to be

Chorus:
And it eats you up inside
But you can be anything that you want to be
I won’t let it eat you up inside
Cause you can see anything that you want to see

I try to be the writer
Whose stories you will read
But you don’t care to be on the same level as me
Now I see you
Standing in my dreams
And still I think about the place I want to be

Chorus:
And it eats me up inside
But I can be anything that I want to be
I won’t let it eat me up inside
I can see anything that I want to see

Bridge:
You can never see
What it means to me
You can never see inside my dreams
When you’re watching me
And I’m stumbling
I see you smiling
You could never be
Just a memory
I’ll always keep you by my side
What I have to see
Is a life that’s free
Why don’t you let me dream?

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Bridge

Cover art for Pilot lyrics by Faktion

This song seems to relate to a situation I'm in right now. I think it all points to this guy who likes this girl a fair amount. The fact of the matter is that this girl has become a distraction in his life and his dreams. He has his thoughts of what he wants, but she keeps getting in the way. He wants to be open with this girl and show who he's really about, but she doesn't take the hint or see the reality; it's all a dream. In the end she may never know this guy, but he still cannot let her go "you could never be just a memory, I'll always keep you by my side". He wants to be with her, but still wants to be able to live his life and dream without her distracting it. "why don't you let me dream?" Not sure if that's even a little right, but it's the way I've taken it recently. Great song either way.
