Electric Crown Lyrics

Here we go
The people show
Victims of tomorrow
The way it goes
It never shows
Emptiness or sorrow

There is nothing left inside
Nothing left to cry for
So I justify my crimes
Things I must die for

So alone
Away it goes
The life that you have wasted
You never know
Where is might go
The sweet success you've tasted

Tasted by a bitter frown
Knowing I must die for
Can't confide, to all the lies
No one to inquire

As I wander
Change of seasons
As I realize
That I'll soon be there

I'll let you know
The reapers show
Makes you beg or borrow
He comes to see
The tragedy
His fate he will not follow

Wearing your electric crown
The preacher starts to pray
Shiver as the lights go down
Heed these words I say

As I wander
Change of seasons
I can't ponder
I got my reasons

As I realize
I don't care
All I know is
That I'll soon be there

Now it's gone
The time has come
The people stand in silence
Another dawn
Has come and gone
His fate has been decided

There is no one left inside
A brain without a mind
Traces of a bitter man
Are all you will find

As I wander
Change of seasons
I can't ponder
I got my reasons

As I realize
I don't care
All I know is
That I'll soon be there
And I'll soon be there
And I'll soon be there
And I'll soon be there

What's interesting is that the song's protagonist seems to be looking at his whole situation in a positive light. "That I'll soon be there" = "That I'll soon be in the spirit world." He seems to finally be coming to terms with his crimes, and why he's in the electric chair. And he's hoping that, once he dies, he'll find serenity in the after life.

I agree with Elimination, this song is about a guy dying in the electric chair, I know for sure because I've seen the video. This song fuckin rules!!! It's got a kickass riff and is a heavy beast of a song.

Yeah this song kicks ass, and yes i agree with the first 2 posters, its about a guy going to the electric chair, not just does it show that in the music video, but the lyrics also indicate that.

I like how its called the 'electric crown'- seems like an ironic reward for what someone has done. Great lyrics!

Do you think these lyrics could be a metaphor for drugs?

Just kidding awesome song by an awesome band!

While the song is about an electric chair, I think it is also about Macbeth. Macbeth got the crown, but since he wasn't actually descended from Duncan, in a way, the crown wasn't real, sort of like the "electric crown" of this song isn't really a crown either. The song is also about a man who dies for crimes he committed, like Macbeth. Macbeth had so much going for him before he decided to kill Duncan so he wasted his life "the life that you have wasted." Also, some of the song is written in 1st person while some of it isn't, so the song could be from the point of view as an audience member going to see Macbeth, "He comes to see the tragedy."

I'm not so sure it's about being put to death in the electric chair...I think he's being/has been given electroshock therapy, and stripped of any and all personality. A living but empty shell with "no one left inside", "a brain without a mind" with only "traces of a bitter man" (memories) left behind. There is no one left inside A brain without a mind Traces of a bitter man Are all you will find
