It's Gettin' Easy

To me this song has nothing to do with suicide. Its about him holding in his feelings and thoughts during a time when he should be healthily expressing them such as in an argument with his girlfriend. Instead he is focused on not saying how he feels by "My overbite clenched, set in place" and enforcing it with his "straight jacket mind" and as hes done it so many times "Its getting easy" for him to do it Also he's lacking for anything to say "I wish I had a single thought the least bit legitimate enough" and he knows its killing him to keep his feelings hidden hence "The executioner looks exactly like me, it’s me"

It's about self destruction. (The executioner looks exactly like me, it's me) He's playing a part he knows off by heart, an act to disguise what he's really feeling and conforming it to what you want to see. It's getting easier each time, to be this person he plays in front of other people. To tell people what they want to hear, to conceal everything and horde his feelings/emotions inside. To feel out of control, but to contain himself (Hand in my pocket, straight jacket mind) for your benefit.

He's protecting himself from being vulnerable and real to prevent being hurt by other people, but destroying himself by depriving himself being open and genuine, he's depriving himself of letting other people see his sincerity; disallowing acceptance and love.

It's not about suicide. It's about depression. Trying to fight it, (I'm on my hands and knees, Like a martyr calling out his final plea) resisting the urge to disclose himself in his bubble, but it's so much easier to just continue playing this act he's so familiar with. Struggle.

Ah i love the piano in this song, it's very upbeat.

meaning smiling but it means nothing.

taking pills (most likely an anti depressant) and not making him himself.

i love the whole "straight jacket mind" to me it symbolizes that he isnt himself and has to have somthing to control himself.

it means EXACTLY what im going through.

I believe he's trying to convey that he was/is having suicidal thoughts. It also could be that he's tried to commit suicide, because in the lines

I believe he's saying he regrets ever taking whatever is killing him, and he now realizes who killed him. It was himself.

"I wish I had a single thought the least bit legitimate enough To open up my mouth and spit accuracy"

also seems to be saying that he feels there is no thought worth living for, and that he can't say anything that seems to amount to anything at all.

wow, these guys went by totally unnoticed.. their debut album was awesome and i'm sure the few people who checked it out will agree.

I think this song is about taking pills. I dont think as much about suicide.. just the feeling that hes being retrained and not able to say or act how he legitimatly feels, you are taking the executioner line wrong.

I agree to an extent with the anti-depressant thing, but I personally think the song is more about lying. he's destroying himself, but not with suicide, he's living a lie and it's getting easier and easier because he's getting used to it.

and I LOVE this song. the Jay E remix is even better.

I knew this song sounded familiar when I first heard it. I think it is because the vocals mimic a somewhat-poppy song that came out a few years ago.

You sort of skipping over that in attempt to make your theory seem more accurate.

I'm not very sure what the song is about. Your theory could have explained it correctly until he goes onto that verse completely about swallowing pills. The executioner thing seems a bit fishy to me, too. If anyone can explain it, go for it. :)
