i think this is about being trapped in a relationship you'd rather not be in.

It's getting hard to breathe in here What I would give to be set free? sounds like hes asking for help, someone to help him out of it

but he feels too attached to let go and its getting so awkward

In my darkened tomb, I am laid to waste
i rhink that line is him accepting the fact he is stuck in the relationship and there is nothing he can do about it

im not 100% sure tho love architects :)
