17 Year Locust Lyrics

Electric black nite crash, hunger on your face
Opium heat rash, suffocate this place
Well I see the sun burning in your eye
I see the sun call a suicide (come on)

17 year locust
If not now, when? (x4)

Tombstone eyes roam up and down your skin
Assassinate the mindframe nothing left to win
I see the sun burning in your eye
I see the sun call a suicide (come on)

17 year locust
If not now, when? (x4)

Enchanted on the highway, all the freaks collide
One minute longer - you start the slide
Well, I ain't the one burning in your eye
I ain't the one call a suicide (come on)

17 year locust
If not now, when? (x4)

That's what I got. I'm not too sure about 'speedin' there in the third verse, but I can't figure out what else would be there.

thanks. I posted yours but I'm not sure about the "I see the sun call us to die" mainly because I don't hear a "D" from rob. But hopefully someone will post the correct lyrics from the liner notes like they did for american witch

Found this in the booklet from the album:

Seventeen=Year Locust, the cicada septendecim, whose life cycle occupies seventeen years beneath the ground with only a few weeks above the earth. the female lays her eggs in the bark of shrubs and trees, the young hatch, drop to the ground, and burrow under for 17 years, during which time they live on roots. Because of their periodic appearance above the ground their appearances can be predicted and protection against their ravages prepared.

I think he's useing the 17 Year Locust as a symbol of the world. We're taking all this time to devolop into an understanding intelectual society that the mistakes we've made in the past are unfixable. So when we do finaly come to understand and accept completely, we will be soon to die from our past mistakes. Much like the 17 Year Locust developes underground for 17 years but then only acctually live for a few weeks. Also the lines "I see the sun burning in your eye I see the sun call a suicide (come on)" and "Well, I ain't the one burning in your eye I ain't the one call a suicide (come on)" mean that he sees whats causing your death, and it isn't him. Many people think that the violence in the media and rock stars are the ones to cause for all the violence, and of course Rob Zombie is a heavy metal, and somewhat violent rock star. So he's saying it's not his fault. Sorry for such a long speech.

The Sun may also represent the White-light, or left hand path. If he's a satanist, or holds modern satanic beliefs, then this would make more sence.

corection: Right-Hand Path

I'm pretty sure you were right the first time. The goat (Satan) sits on the left hand of God and the lamb (Jesus) sits on the right. Unless I've fogotten what I learned in Bible school all those years ago.

Yeah. Satan is on the left. So the white-light would be the right.
