When I hear this song, I think its trying to tell you to get out and try something new i guess. Cuz thats what Tom did. He was depressed cuz he didnt have blink anymore so he decided to form a new band rather than sit in his room and be sad. That's what it means to me.

And one thing i hate about the people who use this website is when they say that they love a song.

This site is called SONGMEANINGS.net not TELLEVERYONETHATYOULOVEASONG.net cuz quite frankly i dont think anyone gives a shit.

If i were to tell you all that i love this song (which i do), would u give a flying fuck?

I don't know what this song is about exactly, but some of it seems to have a lot of religious significance. For example the chorus:

And now, I'll stop the storm if it rains I'll light up a path far from here I'll make your fear melt away And the world we know disappear

Seems like the first line refers to the story of Jesus calming the storm on the sea with the apostles. Second line just refers to Jesus as a symbol of light, lighting the way to Heaven, The third line seems to refer to the whole "Do not be afraid" thing, and that you can always feel safe with Him. And the last line I think refers to the end of the world and the Final Judgement

Lastly, I think the title of the song "The Gift" simply refers to Jesus as God's gift to the world. The verses don't really match up with this interpretation, but it just seems like the chorus is all about it.

HAHA! that's exactly what I was thinking! also, this site isn't about commenting things such as "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE BLINK BROKE UP" or talking about how AVA sucks live, or other shit like that. do we care?! NO. the point of this site is to discuss SONG MEANINGS. and jus tto let y'all know, Tom doesn't think about the Blink break-up 24/7, and you guys are just retarded if you think ALL of AVA's song have to do with Blink.

but annnnnnnyways, this song is just amazing. I love the beginning how it gives you that good feel. it reminds me of a sunny day. my favorite part is when it's gets very powerful at the pre-chorus "And suddenly, you've done it all. you've won me over, in no time at all"

I think the song is about getting "the gift" or a relationship or a person, and just being happy and wanting to do whatever you can for that person. and making "the world [you] know disappear" and all of the bad things go away so everything is good :)
