this song is really good, especially the lyrics. i heard it on the OC and bought it on itunes right away. to me it means that theres this one person who youve been waiting for and waiting for but nothing really ever happens so all you can do is hope and you hope and hope and hope and you try to find something thats anything remotely like this feeling and you cant, all you want is this person youve been waiting for. i relate this to a friend that i have who i want to be more than a friend, but all i can do is wait and hope, but in the end all I can do is just that hope. i think the chorus is more of talking to yourself. "you can kill a lot of time if you really wanna put your mind to it" this person knows youvebeen waiting but its kind of like your killing time waiting for that person.

to me the song is about thinking about one girl, all the time and just waiting for them to come back to you, or to realize what they can have with you. althought i could be completly wrong, thats just how i relate it to myself

this song is really good. its like when a close friend or a girlfriend/boyfriend moves away from you or goes on vacation for a long period of time. as much as you dont want to, you feel like your sitting around the house literally waiting for this person. you are killing time and just thinking about this person, hearing this persons name. you feel desperate wasting your time for this person and you try not to, but you miss them so much and are so in love that "what else can you do"
when he says
"or leave it all behind and never go through it" , i think he is saying that in reality you have control of your life and you dont have to be in this relationship, feeling this way, and you could end it and leave it all behind. but its too hard so you keep on waiting
This song takes on a personal meaning for me. My husband became an alcoholic 5 years into our marriage of 10 years. I just keep waiting for the "real him", and I am always hoping....or wondering if I should leave it all behind. So much time has passed while I've been hoping. He is not abusive, he goes to work everyday; but when he comes home and on weekends he drinks and ignores me and our 10 year old daughter.
He is stuck, and there's nothing he can do but WAIT.
This person is lock n the idea and he is stuck and thought he has no options left.
