Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum Lyrics
Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee are characters from Alice in Wonderland. Frequently used to derogatorily denote a pair of foolish people who are similar ("Dick Cheney and George Bush are Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.") Who the characters in this song are I'm not sure.
Please, can anyone explain who are Tweedle-dee Dum and Tweedle-dee Dee? Are they from some fairy tale?

I found a site with a full 8 page academic essay written on the meaning of this song! (follow this site to the link for the essay and do a page search for the song title) http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/6752/magazine.html
I'm tweedledum, Bob's tweedle dee....hahahahha
I've always thought it was about Bush and Chenney, but can't be sure.
After more consideration, I would have to say that it was actually Bush and Gore he was referring to. It's easy, after the abomination that was the Bush presidency to think it was Bush and Chenney, but looking at when the song was probably written (1999), I would say it was the 2 candidates he was referring to.

Aside from identifying who Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are, there's a LOT more to weed out in a song like this one, and what it means. That's just the tip of the iceberg! Looking for more info I found this paper, which seems pretty good: http://nicolamenicacci.com/bdcc/DylanTweedleDee.pdf give it a read, it's worth it
