Live With Me (feat. Terry Callier) Lyrics
Well, no one's commented yet on the lyrics.. pretty straightforward, actually. A common theme of nostalgia, one to which most of us can relate. This is one of those songs that are perfect to listen to when you're recovering from a heartbreak.. hehe, at least it hit me pretty close to home.
Great cover of this by The Twilight Singers with Mark Lanegan singing lead vocals. Definitely worth checking out for a more Alt Rock take on this.
The videos of an alcoholic, so maybe it's someone he's looking out for like a friend whose found themselves in a rough patch (Nothings right when you're not here) or maybe it's the alcoholic's/person in a rough patch crying out for help from a certain person
This song is definitely about a father/daughter relationship, onsidering that Terry Callier gave up his musical career in the 80's for his daughter, when he gained custody of her. So, I presume the line "thinking about you baby...in my blues " refers to the time when he was touring with musicians such Gil Scott-Heron. And "I'd give all that I have just to, keep you near" is for him being ready to give up music to have the opportunity of bringing her up. And also, the line "you just don't believe that I'm sincere" reveals that probably his daughter doesn't believe him anymore, because he already left her once for the touring. And the "child" only confirms that it's definitely not about missing a lover.
I love this song and the video is also great in it's own interpretation.
Much better than 100th Window. It's got that emotion that that album tended to lack. Terry Callier has a fantastic Motown voice - I hope he's featured on at least another track on the new album.
The Bristol sound is alive and kicking - it's the huge string sections and emotion that has always been the domination. We're an emotional bunch.
This song is dark and atmospheric... hmm, but not the best from them. Material from 100th window was good, particularly, Butterfly Caught. :)
I'm a fan of both the new, darker massive attack, and the old-school, more upbeat massive attack...and don't get me wrong, I really liked 100th Window and Mezzanine is one of my 'most listened to albums of all time', but I think I'd like a return to a more 'Blue Lines' sound from them...
I would say Mezzonine is their darkest album so far, actually. For the eponymous track and Inertia Creeps if nothing else.
I don't necessarily think it's about breaking up, he could just miss her every second she's not there, total infatuation and realising you're in love with someone.
It's a love song without all the cheesy crap that dominates the charts like Britney etc.
Mezzanine was definitely darker. I just felt that 100th Window didn't quite have the same classic stamped over it as all their previous albums.
So, yeah, this song IS slow and beautiful. I love it. It's nostalgic, perhaps also it's a song of ultimatum. It's broken and bluesy but epic and noble with the strings.
Gosh. God bless that Bristol sound, with heights and yet a funky rhythm section underneath. That's what happens when you live in a city built up and down a hill, you can start making songs with heights and depths at once.
