September in the Rain Lyrics
1 2 2 toobidoo.
The leaves of brown
Came tumbling down,
Remember in September in the rain.
The sun went out
Just like a light,
Remember in September in the rain.
To every word
Of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seems
To play a sweet refrain.
Thought it's spring,
To me it's still September,
Oh that September in the rain.
To every word
Of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seems
To play a sweet refrain.
Thought it's spring,
To me it's still September,
Oh that September in the rain.
I said I said it's September in the rain.
Ah September in the rain.
The leaves of brown
Came tumbling down,
Remember in September in the rain.
The sun went out
Just like a light,
Remember in September in the rain.
Of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seems
To play a sweet refrain.
Thought it's spring,
To me it's still September,
Oh that September in the rain.
Of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seems
To play a sweet refrain.
Thought it's spring,
To me it's still September,
Oh that September in the rain.
I said I said it's September in the rain.
Ah September in the rain.

This song is from the Decca sessions and has Paul on Lead vocal. This was the first song (along with Three Cool Cats) released as a 45 from SFF back in the 70's. I've still got the 45 (yellow vinyl) and I still remember how cool it was to hear a "new" Beatles song then (I hadn't discovered bootlegs yet). I believe this also shows up on Anthology 1.
It certainly has a classic McCartney sound to the vocals. They didn't write it, but the meaning seems obvious - it's spring and he is remembering and longing for his love from the previous September.
i heard that when they played this song the music people thought that paul was great and the rest of the beatles wern't that good.
@buterfly7 hmm McCartney was soft Lennon was hard.. that why they collaborated so well
