8 Dead Boys Lyrics

Sit right down cause you're a friend
You know there ain't too many left of them
You said I want love, I want it all

You look better now than last time
But you still look better from afar
The life that you wanted was not in store
You're being the dark horse again

Hello, Hello
Hello, My Love [x3]

Stop your moaning and I'll give you a taster
They give you and line and they call you a waster
Give you a line, oh what a waster
So don't!
You say you will or you won't
Do or you don't [x3]

Cause you look better now than the last time
But you're still no better than before
The life that you wanted wasn't in store
You're being the dark horse again

Hello, Hello
Hello, My Love [x3]

When it suits you, you're a friend of mine [x15]

Cause you look better now than the last time
But you're still no better than before
The life that you wanted wasn't in store
You're being the dark horse again

Cause you look better now than the last time
But you're still no better than before
The life that you wanted wasn't in store
You're being the dark horse again

"The Life That You Wanted Was Not In Store."

Only legends write lyrics like that.

"'You look better now than last time But you still look better from afar' I can imagine this line being used as a backhanded compliment aimed at a girl - basically you look good from a distance but when close you're not that special. "

i thought it was because every interviewer always says "you're looking better" even when pete's made no effort to give up drugs

In many of his songs Pete freely associates thoughts and actual memories. Most of his songs are emotionally consistent rather than rationally. This song could be a (fictional) conversation mixing thoughts and memories. The verses would be what Pete says and the chorus could represent what is said to him.

Pete is generally considered to be rather intelligent and it is quite common for intelligent people to be susceptible to drug addiction out of a general dissatisfaction with life rather than due specific personal problems or events.

Pete's "I want love, I want it all" may refer to a longing for a degree of emotional fulfillment that is unrealistic to achieve and therefore drove him to the use of drugs to satisfy this desire. The conversation partner, talking to him about his drug problem, then confronts him with "The life that you wanted was not in store, you're alone in the dark once again." "My love" as well as the friend in "When it suits you, you're a friend of mine" would refer to his conversation partner.

Pete could also be talking to himself, the chorus representing his thoughts about himself during a moment of contemplation. Then "My love" would refer to the drugs and the friend would be he himself.

The song is co-authored by Patrick Walden. But that doesn't make a statement about how much Patrick has influenced the song. Maybe he only contributed a line, but the song may as well be his altogether and Pete no more than helped him a little. Then we'd be all wrong.

from what i know, pat wrote the chorus and most of the song

In my mind, this is obviously about the paparazzi. "They give you and line and they call you a waster" They act like they're gonna be your best friend, and then they tell the world that you're a waster. "When it suits you, you're a friend of mine" When it's of greatest benefit to them, they'll say nice things about him, and if they want to get an interview out of him. "Cause you look better now than the last time" Always judging you, never out of the media's eye.

ok, number 1, both pete and patrik walden wrote this song, and number 2, i think its "they give you a line and then they call you a waster" like someone else (pete often blames carl) give you a line (like of coke or something) and then call you a waster for it. i dont think it has to do with the media
