The Morning After Lyrics

There's got to be a morning after
If we can hold on through the night
We have a chance to find the sunshine
Let's keep on looking for the light

Oh, can't you see the morning after?
It's waiting right outside the storm
Why don't we cross the bridge together
And find a place that's safe and warm?

It's not too late, we should be giving
Only with love can we climb
It's not too late, not while we're living
Let's put our hands out in time

There's got to be a morning after
We're moving closer to the shore
I know we'll be there by tomorrow
And we'll escape the darkness
We won't be searching anymore

There's got to be a morning after
(There's got to be a morning after)
There's got to be a morning after
(There's got to be a morning after)
There's got to be a morning after
(There's got to be a morning after)
There's got to be a morning after
(There's got to be a morning after)

I loved this song ever since I first heard it from the movie The Poseidon Adventure. I believe this song is about not losing hope, but holding on because of faith in the morning after.

I remember it was on South Park where Chef almost marries a succubus and Stan and Kyle sing this song to send her back to hell.

When I was young, I thought this song was about the pill. Seriously. Beautiful song, though... very optimistic song... the contrast with the violence and tragedy of the movie is startling, and beautiful.

This is a song about hope and having the strength and perserverance to get through a trying time or an obstacle (such as drug addiction, a break-up, pretty much anything tragic!). A great song -- optimistic and full of hope.

I didn't hear it first from the Poseidon Adventure, but it was used beautifully there. It is indeed about hope and the strength to push on.
