Lullabye for a Stormy Night Lyrics
Little child, be not afraid
Though rain pounds harshly against the glass
Like an unwanted stranger, there is no danger
I am here tonight
Little child, be not afraid
Though thunder explodes and lightning flash
Illuminates your tear-stained face
I am here tonight
And someday you'll know
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morning
Little child, be not afraid
Though storm clouds mask your beloved moon
And its candlelight beams, still keep pleasant dreams
I am here tonight
Little child, be not afraid
Though wind makes creatures of our trees
And their branches to hands, they're not real, understand
And I am here tonight
And someday you'll know
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morning
For you know, once even I was a
Little child, and I was afraid
But a gentle someone always came
To dry all my tears, trade sweet sleep for fears
And to give a kiss goodnight
Well now I am grown
And these years have shown
That rain's a part of how life goes
But it's dark and it's late
So I'll hold you and wait
'Til your frightened eyes do close
And I hope that you'll know
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morning
Everything's fine in the morning
The rain'll be gone in the morning
But I'll still be here in the morning
Though rain pounds harshly against the glass
Like an unwanted stranger, there is no danger
I am here tonight
Though thunder explodes and lightning flash
Illuminates your tear-stained face
I am here tonight
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morning
Though storm clouds mask your beloved moon
And its candlelight beams, still keep pleasant dreams
I am here tonight
Though wind makes creatures of our trees
And their branches to hands, they're not real, understand
And I am here tonight
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morning
Little child, and I was afraid
But a gentle someone always came
To dry all my tears, trade sweet sleep for fears
And to give a kiss goodnight
And these years have shown
That rain's a part of how life goes
But it's dark and it's late
So I'll hold you and wait
'Til your frightened eyes do close
That nature is so
The same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
On forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you'll see
In the morning
The rain'll be gone in the morning
But I'll still be here in the morning

wow, shivers... really beautiful.
TO me there is no hidden story to this song. She's comforting a young child who's scared of a storm and the version I listen to it sounds like after she tells the child about being afraid when she herself was little the child seems to sing the last verse with her. I would love it if there was a music video to this song.
This song sounds like soft, warm spring sunlight.
Pretty song. beautifully written :)
beautiful.
I love this song.
She's trying to comfort her child during a storm. She tells her kid that when she herself was a child, she went through the same thing, and she shouldn't worry.
I almost cried when I heard this song considering that my parents and I never got along, so I never had any lullabies sung to me. Call it envy, I guess.
It's like caitelle said, she's comforting her child and remembering how she used to be during storms and what she learned from those times. This song is my new lullabye at night. I love it, I love it, I love it =D
Feeling scared of a thunderstorm and alone one night, Vienna decided to write a song to comfort herself, but she couldn't really do that, so she invented a little girl and wrote a song to comfort her.
Vienna said she wrote this one night in high school at age 17, while staying up late (~3AM), procrastinating on an English paper due to the next day.
At the end There is a cameo by the elusive Tifffany Shih, whom I will not reveal who she is, but any way. Agian this song is beautiful. This is the first song i heard by vienna teng, and it was set to a Fullmetal alchemist AMV.
Actually she wrote this song to comfort herself durring a storm because she was scared.
