Where We Start Lyrics
Where we start is where we end
We step out sweetly, nothing planned
Along by the river we feed bread to the swans
And then over the footbridge to the woods beyond
We walk ourselves weary, you and I
There's just this moment
I light a campfire away from the path
We lie in the bluebells, a woodpecker laughs
Time passes slowly our hearts entwined
All of the dark times left behind
The day is done
The sun sinks low
We fold up the blanket, it's time to go
We walk ourselves weary, arm in arm
Back through the twilight
Home again
We waltz in the moonlight and the embers glow
So much behind us
Still far to go
We step out sweetly, nothing planned
Along by the river we feed bread to the swans
And then over the footbridge to the woods beyond
There's just this moment
We lie in the bluebells, a woodpecker laughs
All of the dark times left behind
The sun sinks low
We fold up the blanket, it's time to go
Back through the twilight
Home again
So much behind us
Still far to go

This is one of the best song I've heard in a long tim e and it is so simple. It reminds me aof a magical place in Montana where I spent a week in the wilderness. The was a footbridge I crossed at the beginning of my trek, and the sound of birds filled the air.
As far as I know, David Gilmour wrote this as a present for his wife. It's basically about them going for a walk and a picnic in the countryside. It's simple but very sweet and romantic
Yes, it's a beautiful song, doubtless about David's wife. It just seems to express contentment and devotion. He seems to be using a day out as a metaphor for their relationship. The last verse says it all...
"We waltz in the moonlight and the embers glow So much behind us Still far to go"
It seems that they've been through a lot of "dark times", but are now contented, and looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together.
Wow, It's so amazing. David's style hasn't deviated much at all from Pink Floyd. I hope he never grows old.
This is a most beautiful song celebrating life to the very fullest. I really love it. The chords may be simple, but the music is incredible.
Another masterpiece by Dave. I love his songs. He has proved that he had been the best member in the band, Pink Floyd.
