Little Bag Of Hair Lyrics
Nintendo machines in hospitals are always broken
Chewing jay cloths relieves the pain from mouth ulcers
I've got a crush on a girl
But I'm gonna have to work on that
They say that being in the army makes you hard
But I don't know about that
Ice cream blender, pocket money spender
Off-chart behaviour, granulated banana flavour
Let's play nurses and doctors
Until the real nurses and doctors catch us shouting curses
Hiding in boxes until the real nurses and doctors come
I used to have a little bag of hair
And wish it was my hair
My Dad would bring me Airfix fighters
The glue would get all over the bed
At my fingertips enough morphine to put me in that jet
A 4am that little red button was all I had left
Ice cream blender, pocket money spender
Off-chart behaviour, granulated banana flavour
Let's play nurses and doctors
Until the real nurses and doctors catch us shouting curses
Hiding in boxes until the real nurses and doctors come...
Chewing jay cloths relieves the pain from mouth ulcers
I've got a crush on a girl
But I'm gonna have to work on that
They say that being in the army makes you hard
But I don't know about that
Off-chart behaviour, granulated banana flavour
Until the real nurses and doctors catch us shouting curses
Hiding in boxes until the real nurses and doctors come
And wish it was my hair

The glue would get all over the bed
At my fingertips enough morphine to put me in that jet

Their singer Blaine has spina bifida, and this is a song about how he spent most of his early childhood in hospital. Sad.
btw its - "enough morphine to put in in a death" not in a jet.
but yeah, it is a sad song...
nope sorry, it is 'in a jet'. it's what's written in the inlay of the album and.. yeah, it's just what is said. besides, 'in a death' doesn't make any sense.
This is one of those songs which makes your heart sink. It's beautiful, but you can feel the pain he must have gone through as a child. It's so blunt and truthful, nothing is hidden. I met the band after their gig in Glasgow a year ago and they are all really great guys with a lot of talent.
I agree with stinaribena - this is a really moving song. Mystery Jets are good at making songs that mean an awful lot.
As everyone else has said, this song means a lot :) I love the way it just GOES, but it's so sad .
I just love the sense of 90's childhood- bananna pain killers, ice cream, planes, 'crushes', nintendos... its so cute and makes me want to cry.
recorded at the eel pie studios rather than a proper swish one. you can hear blaine's voice break at '4am' i like that.
