I think this song actually means that when you're in a realtionship, it eventually reaches a point that you can't control your feelings anymore, and it's not in your hands. So just let things happen. Excuse my cliche, but just go with the flow. And to make sure that it's all worth it in the end.
My second view on this, is someone losing their virginity, or making love for the first time. Read it over, think it through. Yes?

Yeah, I'm tending to lean towards p42790q's interpretation. I like the line about "your hazel eyes paralyse my senses". Its about how you know what you should do (or maybe you don't) and you can't do it. You're just stuck there looking at them and let it roll past...

i thought it was about losing your virginity too, thought i was the only who saw it that way.
My first impression of this song is that it was about losing your virginity, also. And now that I've actually read the lyrics and found that a lot of what I thought they were singing was wrong, it seems like that's the only thing it could be. Though I can see how you could get that it's about the end of a relationship. Oh well. That's merely my interpretation. =]
It could also be about the beginning of a relationship, that both partners are unsure in the beginning but they feel it is the right thing to do, and they can't help feeling this way for each other, so they shoukd just let it happen, or maybe one of the two is unsure, and the other one thinks they should try and just see where it leads....
I agree about the virginity thing. "staking out what could be better than all the money in the world." virginity is important to most non-slutty people. so, it would be better than all the money in the world to have someone want you to take it, yeah?
