Occam's Razor Lyrics

Holy roller
It's your reality

I've seen the people that they've branded
They always come out open handed
Come to the mothership is landing
They're going to give us what we want
Open your eyes
Push yourself inside
Contemplate all of your senses
Tell them what you want to lose
They'll just spit in your face
Push you back in your place
Concentrate all of your answers
Tell them what you think you know

100 million miles they chased us
A paragon of nameless faces
Some say they see the coming changes
They're going to give us what we want

Open your eyes
Push yourself inside
Contemplate all of your senses
Tell them what you want to lose
They'll just spit in your face
Push you back in your place
Concentrate all of your answers
Tell them what you think you know
They're going to give us what we want

Holy roller, it's your reality
Are you tied down and in locks?
Held up and face fact
Holy roller, it's your reality
Can you taste this, the spaces?
Erase the sexes
Have you seen what's inside your mind?
Have you been fucking your own kind?
Have you been writing on the wall?
Have you seen anything at all?

Open your eyes
Push yourself inside
Contemplate all of your senses
Tell them what you want to lose
They'll just spit in your face
Push you back in your place
Concentrate all of your answers
Tell them what you think you know

Under the sun
Under your self
Under the sightings of your side
Under your cross
Under the gun
Under the meaning of your life

It seems to be about religion. And it seems to do a good job at presenting the delusions that most religions can offer, It's very powerful. Occam's Razor is actually a philosophical term. It's an idea by William Occam, and it states that the explanation of any phenomenon should make as few assumptions as possible. Kinda fits the ideas of religions, no? But how good is that actually?

A song to think about. Brilliant.

Neat song. I don't think it's exactly anti-religion, but I guess a lot of heavily religious people do what they song is truly refering to.

A few things need to be taken in to consideration together. As some of you noticed, it was named after the idea of making few assumptions when trying to find what is or isn't correct. And a lot of the lyrics seem to be calling someone out on being blind to what's around them, not to mention themselves.

This is really about people who assume they are in the right, without sin, justified in their actions, etc. if you're willing to say that of yourself, you need to truly look at your own actions.

Basically, at heart, we're all pretty twisted, but that doesn't mean we're bad, just that we're normal.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of their songs are like little self-contained stories, so I usually like to see this one as one of those.

Just google "Occam's Razor" and it'll tell you what the song's about.

"Occam's razor (also written as Ockham's razor, Latin lex parsimoniae) is a principle of parsimony, economy, or succinctness used in logic and problem-solving. It states that among competing hypotheses, the one that makes the fewest assumptions should be selected.".... The razor's statement that "simpler explanations are, other things being equal, generally better than more complex ones" is amenable to empirical testing.

Basically: The simpler explanation with the most proof is the one most likely correct. Is it more likely we're all here on earth by chance and evolution (as literally all the evidence points to), or is it more likely we're here because of a super-complicated deity who's communications with people have always matched up very very closely with the beliefs and practices those peoples already had before the supposed communication, and who never shows themselves?

It's a song about how religious people blind themselves to so much of the world and it's beauty so that they can cling to their beliefs, which are much uglier.

It doesn't seem to be hateful toward religion, though, just observant, and Jared Leto's religious beliefs or lack thereof are still in question (he doesn't talk about them).

A paragon of nameless faces When you think enough about that line, you see how powerfull it becomes =]

"Under the sun Under your self Under the sightings of your side Under your cross Under the gun Under the meaning of your life" Esp. the under your cross bit.. i think it means that underneath what you have been covering up with religion, you will find the true meaning of your life..=]

Maybe too obvious, but I think it's about aliens! XD

"I've seen the people that they've branded They always come out open handed Come to the mothership is landing They're going to give us what we want"

People asking for help from the aliens due their evolutionism.

"Open your eyes Push yourself inside Contemplate all of your senses Tell them what you want to lose They'll just spit in your face Push you back in your place"

They will not help us and will kick we away.

"Concentrate all of your answers Tell them what you think you know"

Even our newest discoveries and science is nothing close to their.

And so on, lol, I think it does so.

One of my favorite songs ever, great work
