Sandpaper Kisses Lyrics

Sandpaper kisses, papercut bliss
Don't know what this is, but it all leads to this:
You're gonna leave Her
You have deceived Her
Just a girl

Ooh just a girl with featherweight curls
To expose all she knows you play like tease
Just a girl with featherweight curls
To expose all she knows you play like tease

You're gonna leave Her
You have deceived Her
Just a girl

I want the soul of something simple to
take home with me
The world as someplace simple it's my
home you see

You're gonna leave Her
You have deceived Her
Just a girl, a blood red pearl

Great song-first time I heard this was in Indigo Prophecy and I had to buy it.

Ditto, after that level in Indigo Prophecy, I got online, did some research, and discovered a musician that was well worth the time. It's too bad more video games don't use music to the same effect; I swear, that level played out just like a scene in a movie.

As far as this song goes, the lyrics are not perfect, although they are pretty good...but the delivery, the music, the ambience of the song are all great and make it addictive to listen to. I had to ween myself off of this song before I could move on to her other great songs.

I think the theory about the relationship breaking due to the guy being gay is plausible. I could definitely see that in the lyrics. I'm also seeing though, a sort of story about a woman and man who most definitely love and want each other, but that the man is going to leave her because of something he can't control, like death.

It seems odd because she mentions "You [the guy] have deceived her." I think maybe this is true, but he hasn't deceived her in the sense that he is having an affair or doesn't love her like he says. I think he's deceived her in the sense that he may have told her that they'd be together for a long time and because he has to leave, he's making that statement untrue.

I think "Sandpaper kisses" refers to the fact that now knowing that his having to leave her is uncontrollable, that kissing him, touching him or making love to him is rough, like sandpaper because he's eventually going to have to leave and those kisses and such will eventually cease.

Yup! Indigo Prophecy was where I heard this song as well! I agree with what the person above me said-- her voice, the ambience etc. is what makes the song, it has such a fluidity.

Ha, yeah, me too. That game was amazing and i loved the level with this song so i had to look it up. It has fantastic sounds and just takes you away.

Uhhhh excuse my narrow mind (and bad english) but ... I think they used it in Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit to describe the Tyler Miles/Samantha "Sam" Malone plot.

Nothing about "gayness" there .. just men and their work (relationship with their work, sort-to-say)

Maybe that's what Martina Topley-Bird had in mind too.

"I want the soul of something simple to take home with me The world as someplace simple it's my home you see"

My Opinion

It's not brain surgery. It's about a dude using a girl(s). It's about a routine...an agenda. It's an arrogant little ditty. A great listen when also listening to Sunday Munich and Unkle. Oh happy day! I need a barf bag and a break...

Tomorrow, Bella, Tomorrow. Happy Happy Winter!

I'm thinking sandpaper kisses equates to men kissing men, thus

"Sandpaper kisses, papercut bliss Don't know what this is, but it all leads to this: You're gonna leave Her You have deceived Her Just a girl"

ultimately means - you're going to leave her because you're gay -

"I want the soul of something simple to take home with me The world as someplace simple it's my home you see"

Soul of something simple - A desire for something not so complicated.
