The Evil That Men Do Lyrics
Love is a razor, and I walked the line on that silver blade.
Slept in the dust with his daugter, her eyes red with slaughter of innocence.
But will pray for her.
I will call her name out loud.
I would bleed for her.
If I could only see her now.
Living on a razors edge.
Balancing on a ledge.
Living on a razors edge, yeah.
Balancing on a ledge, yeah.
Balancing on a ledge, yeah.
Living on a razors edge.
Balancing on a ledge, you know.
you know.
The evil that men do lives on and on.
The evil that men do lives on and on.
The evil that men do lives on and on.
The evil that men do lives on and on.
Circle of fire, my baptism of joy, at an end it seems.
The seventh lamb slain, as the book of life opens before me.
But I will pray for you.
And some day I may return.
Don´t you cry for me
Beyond is where I learn.
Living on a razors edge.
Balancing on a ledge.
Living on a razors edge, you know.
You know.
The evil that men do lives on and on.

The title of the song, as well as the chorus, is inspired by a part in Shakespare's 'Julius Cæsar' where Markus Antonius says:
''Friends, Romans, country men, lend me your ears; I come to bury Cæsar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones; so let it be with Cæsar.''
I don't think it has anything to do with the song, but it's interesting to note.
Iron Maiden cover, I prefer this version. It sounds more sincere when a woman sings it...
You're a fucking moron, Quickstep. First off, women are the evil ones, that's what the song's about. It's an old IM cover,do you even remember when this came out...or were you born in the MP3 Era? Anyhow. It goes with an accompanying story throughout the album. A boy is born with mystical abilities including clairvoyance as he is to become a great prophet. God sees a great power inside of him for the side of Good and Satan wants this put to an end. When he cannot have the child killed in the womb he continues to scheme. He eventually sends his daughter, a beautiful young girl, to seduce him as a young man. They fall in love but she is destined to remain in Hell. He believes however, in spite of what God may say, that there is always a way to repent and that she can live a good life and be forgiven for her evils. Do your fucking research before you go about with your half-assed theories.
And you, The-Dullahan, are a fucking genius. ^_^
^Hahaha, good shit.
A good cover, anyway...
Dark Artist, on my worst day, I'd still.rip you in half. You're not scary, stop being a keyboard warrior, and I'm.not on "a hIgH hOrSe" because I know that the song is about. It's not some sort of secret or meant to be anything cryptic. You're possibly the first group of idiots in history who -didn't- know what it was about.

@TheLovelyMiss isery, no one said any sex is evil. You're another retard, it seems. I said that the girl in the song is the evil one. She is literally an evil character in the song (and the rest of the album). Jesus christ, some of you Gen Z kids are fucking dense.
@ The-Dullahan "women are the evil ones" Since when? Since when is either sex evil? Niether gender is "the evil one", though both have the capacity to be both good and evil. Anyway, thanks for the comment, but it's not your place to go round putting down other people's opinions. =]
@TheLovelyMissMisery he's not putting his opinion down your throat. That's literally what the song is about. And when he said the woman was the evil one that's also LITERALLY WHAT THE SONG IS ABOUT. She's literally Hellspawn. She is "Incarnation" of evil. The album couldn't really be any more clear than that. Seriously, have you even listened to the words? It's really straightforward. He's not putting down anyone's opinion. He's telling her what the song is (obviously) about. Get off your high horse.

It's so damn true, it's not even funny. Men are evil creatures, but I honestly believe women are worse in certain circumstances.
Quickstep, you should have told Dullahan to go fuck himself. Even if he's right, he's still a dickhead that thinks he's the shit because he knows the meaning behind some song.
Anyway, yeah I like this song, thanks for the meaning Dullahan but get off your high horse. If I met you in person you wouldn't say boo to a goose.
@Dark Artist No one is afraid of you. Don't get mad because The-Dullahan knew what the song was about and you didn't.
