Once again I think this song is about the same girl that he sang about in "Don't Go". He can't follow her fore some reason but just can't let go and doesn't want to miss her and remember her, he wants to be with her. Must have been someone special!
i know the ppl in this band and ur gunna not belive me when i say this but the songs about this mom that was yelling at her kids when nathaniel (lead singer and piano) drove past in his car... weird right?
no, it's about a close friend of theirs that passed away. they had several different songs about it, but the others were too personal for most people to hear comfortably.
The violin solo at the end was unexpected, and I dig it.
To elaborate a bit,

I think that's saying that she didn't want to die, but she couldn't help it, and Nathaniel is asking somebody (God?) why his prayers weren't answered. He believed in him, and he failed him?
And I'm guessing the sweet sound is her voice.
