Parade Lyrics

This is my melody
this is my sympathy for your coming out
this is your coming out parade

You've been here for several years
and your life's been quite alright till now.
He says "you've done something wrong"
you've scored, but he says you've done something wrong
Reaching out for him to hold you,
or just to call you, holding off for something
just to sing along.

This is my melody
this is my sympathy for your coming out
this is your coming out parade
this is my melody for your coming out

Kindness is dead in this town
and drama has been crowned
the acceptable medium of living.
Kindness is dead in this town
and drama holds the crown.
All alone here, dying slowing here.
Screaming loud dear, that you
you need more from me.

You know, you know
it's gleaming out your eyes
and you know, you know
it's sneaking through your precious lips

no i think its about coming out and admitting that you need God

I can totally see this song being about sympathy toward a person coming out as a gay Christian. I've seen many Christians who felt like they found themselves when they came out and were celebrated in secular communities who are now persecuted in the church. They are people who were and are leaders, whose lives were considered almost beyond reproach in the community until they came out. Now, they are told they are wrong and that God hates them. There is no kindness, no compassion, no attempt at understanding. At a recent Ivoryline concert, the lead singer said he isn't here to hold up signs that say "God hates you" because that simply isn't true. God loves everyone...no matter where they are and what they are struggling with.

I think this has something to do with admitting you're gay but when people find out they aren't too happy with it. Not sure but that's what the song says to me.

I don't know about that. It does seem like it, but I think these guys are Christian. I am not sure about that, so I might be wrong.

Yeah these guys are Christian but to me that's what the whole song sounds like. I'm sure there's a better meaning to this.

Seems like it's kind of about commiting to a relationship or something. Like the dude is doing all he can to do a good job with it, but the girl isn't taking any of it the right way and isn't wanting to say what she is really feeling.

I think it's about a girl in an abusive relationship finally realizing she needs to end it by coming out and speaking out about it. My two cents...

From the chorus, I understand how it could be about admitting you're gay. But the rest of the lyrics have more to do with a relationship, than being gay, unless it's a guy who's in love with another guy who isn't gay. But my money's on a relationship involving a girl and abusive boyfriend.

Indeed. It isn't really people's job to judge in the first place. No one is without sin, eh?

Yes, we all make mistakes, and we're all sinners...it's under our skin. Sin is sin in God's eyes and not everyone struggles with the same sin. Some struggle with lust or homosexuality, and others struggle with idolatry/materialism, lying, etc. The problem is when we hold onto a sin, and we're unrepentant, refusing to acknowledge we're living in sin. We have to run from sin and temptation. God hates sin, and I hate the sin in my own life. So just because it's not our place to judge does'nt mean we're supposed to accept sin...

I think there can be a few interpretations to this song, but I am going to say one of them is definitely not about a gay coming out of the closet - it just doesn't fit the lyrics.
