The Comeback Lyrics
Just got back from the Land of Nod
Casting dreams on a fishing rod
I was tired but now I'm strong
I woke, I rose, I wrote this song
Back once more to entertain you
Here with the bride of the man who loved you
It gets dark and I get restless
Taking and not giving
Always left me breathless
Here again and glad to be here
When pop songs end, why do I feel fear?
When parties die at 3 AM
Why I always have to wind 'em up again?
This is my big comeback
Angel, saboteur, the throwback
Come on, dust off the eight-track
Let me in, let me in
Step right up and hear my story
I've dug ditches on the road to glory
I've painted signs on the path to fame
"Cul de sac," "Turn around," "Don't come this way again"
Some angel dust and a pint of wine
And now I'm holding you and I should be fine
I'll call you when I'm back in town
The sun is cold and it's going down
This is my big comeback
Angel, saboteur, the throwback
Come on, dust off the eight-track
Let me in, let me in
That's the price I pay
For being foolish
That's the price I pay
For being nameless
That's the price I pay
For being shameless
That's the price I pay
For coming back
I'm coming back
Casting dreams on a fishing rod
I was tired but now I'm strong
I woke, I rose, I wrote this song
Back once more to entertain you
Here with the bride of the man who loved you
It gets dark and I get restless
Taking and not giving
Always left me breathless
Here again and glad to be here

i think it's 'that's the price i pay for being shameless'
great song, the only reason i found it was because they played an AMAZING version live :)
Thank you for pointing that out! Were you to the studio session for CBC Radio 3's defunct magazine?
The same goes for me, HyperGlitter! Amazing version live. The lyrics work better in the noiser version as well
Up in the top... unless there are printed lyrics I'm unaware of, he definitely says "land of Nod" which is a reference to, uh, being asleep. Which makes a lot more sense with the rest of that "woke up" and "dreams" stuff.
WOW, they played this song just amazing live, it looks like everybody has the same feelings about this song live. Good to know theire consistant all over the country and continent
fairly sure he's saying
"Angel dust and a pint of wine"...odd. i know.

I'm sorry, but, these cannot be the right lyrics. I'm listening to it right now and there are some pretty glaring mistakes here.
"Taken and not giving always left me breathless"
"Here again and glad to be here - when pop songs end why do I feel fear?"
"step right up and hear my story"
"Some angel dust and a pint of wine"
"Now I'm fucking you and I should be fine"
"Get out of bed Ima need you all night" - this one I'm not 100% on, but, it's definitely not "I'm gonna beat your life"
Thanks to all for the corrections! I guess this song is reckless lifestyle of wild partying, sex ["Land of Nod", "angel dust"], drugs, and alcohol ;). That, and reckless abandon. Ah, youth.
