Ain't That Pretty at All Lyrics

Well, I've seen all there is to see
And I've heard all they have to say
I've done everything I wanted to do . . .
I've done that too
And it ain't that pretty at all
Ain't that pretty at all
So I'm going to hurl myself against the wall
'Cause I'd rather feel bad than not feel anything at all

You know, I just had a short vacation, Roy
Spent it getting a root canal
"Oh, how'd you like it?"
Well, it ain't that pretty at all
So I'm going to hurl myself against the wall
'Cause I'd rather feel bad than not feel anything at all

Gonna get a good running start and throw myself at the wall as hard as I can man

I've been to Paris
And it ain't that pretty at all
I've been to Rome
Guess what?
I'd like to go back to Paris someday and visit the Louvre Museum
Get a good running start and hurl myself at the wall
Going to hurl myself against the wall
'Cause I'd rather feel bad than feel nothing at all
And it ain't that pretty at all
Ain't that pretty at all

a perfect example of a man who has lived and breathed the rock and roll experience. he has burnt himself out on the good times, and he can either die and feel nothing or feel nothing, or suffer through the bad times. It is a credit to Warren that he would rather live life as long as possible, and take the consequences of living, when one can tell that from the beginning of career he has had some morbid understanding and acceptance of death.

"I'd rather feel bad than not feel anything at all" - everyone should be able to relate to this. What's worth, sadness/pain/etc. or nothingness? I think the former.

"Gonna get a good running start and throw myself at the wall as hard as I can man" Only the great, late Warren Zevon could have written something like this His was such a unique and incredible talent He truly deserves more attention than he has gotten How such a great blues/rock/punk innovator could remain little more than a cult-celebrity And not enter the mainstream consciousness is impossible for me to understand Other than maybe Bob Dylan, there has been no American songwriter more innovative And more touching than Warren Zevon. All of his fans will surely miss him

I love this song, but this is the second time I've heard this song and had to doublecheck whether this was a Lou Reed cover.
