Fooled Around And Fell In Love Lyrics
I must have been through about a million girls
I'd love 'em and I'd leave 'em alone
I didn't care how much they cried, no sir
Their tears left me cold as a stone
But then I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love
It used to be when I'd see a girl that I liked
I'd get out my book and write down her name
But when the grass got a little greener on the other side
I'd just tear out that page
But then I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love
Since I met you baby
I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love
Free, on my own that's the way I used to be
Ah, but since I met you baby
Love's got a hold on me
It's got a hold on me now
I can't let go of you baby
I can't stop lovin' you now
'Cause I fooled around, fooled around, fooled around
Fooled around, fooled around, fooled around, fell in love
Fooled around, fooled around, yes I did
Fooled around, fooled around, fooled around
I fell in love, yes I did
I'd love 'em and I'd leave 'em alone
I didn't care how much they cried, no sir
Their tears left me cold as a stone
I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love
I'd get out my book and write down her name
But when the grass got a little greener on the other side
I'd just tear out that page
I fooled around and fell in love
Since I met you baby
I fooled around and fell in love
I fooled around and fell in love
Ah, but since I met you baby
Love's got a hold on me
It's got a hold on me now
I can't let go of you baby
'Cause I fooled around, fooled around, fooled around
Fooled around, fooled around, fooled around, fell in love
Fooled around, fooled around, fooled around
I fell in love, yes I did

Yes, nagromnai, Mickey Thomas is the singer of this song. This song is from 1976, three years before Thomas joined Jefferson Starship.
This song is about the rock star life of having sex with groupies on a tour, then leaving the women behind as they go on to the next stop on the tour in another town. The musicians don't really love them, they just fulfill their deed on the lonely road with a few women and then they're gone.
But, in this case it looks like he happens to fall in love with one of the women. He just can't seem to shake her from his mind.
This song is actually not sung by Elvin Bishop, even though it's his band. He plays the lead guitar while Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship sings the vocals.
@richie the song is about Jenny
@richie the song is about Jenny
i really like this song i cant remember which rob zombie movie it was in but its pretty cool.
Hey Richie, is that right about the vocals? I never realised
This is such a cliche, but this song always sounded to me like it's about heroin addiction. Not just because of the whacked-out, flanger-dripping sound. He was with many girls and didn't love any of them, but then he found heroin which he loves more than any woman. In rock music, love for a girl is often a metaphor for addiction to hard drugs. You hear it all through Led Zeppelin, for instance: "I can't quit you, but I'm going to have to put you down for a while." I think it's true here as well.
The life of a rock musician or bluesman is a self-destructive one. A friend was a bluesman in Texas. He died alone in a hotel room at 34 years of age.
wow that's cool that MT sings lead vocals. Didn't even realize
What happened to this verse?
It used to be when I'd see a girl that I liked I'd get out my book and write down her name But when the grass got a little greener over on the other side I'd just tear out that page
for in order this to make sense to my life, it would be "I must been around a million people, I'd lie to them n' leave em' alone, but then I fooled around n' fell in love." good song by the way. sad. :(
These lyrics are so dumb. So what happened exactly? Why did he fall in love? What was she like? Nada. Just the title repeated ad nauseum.

@Zorro3 This song was actually written by Bishop when he met Jenny Villarin and fell in love with her they had a daughter named Selina Bishop. They WERE a couple until they went thier separate ways. After closing the Paper mill Creek Saloon in Woodacer California,Marin County, Jenny was found dead in August 3rd of 2000 along side her " friend " Jim Gamble both were shot dead. Her daughter Selina Bishop, 22 was missing at the time of the murders. She got involved with a man named Jordan "Taylor" Helzer an active member of the Mormon Church. He had a brother named Justin Helzer. 40 miles away 9 duffel bags with body parts of 3 different people. An Elderly couple named The Steinmans, Annette and Ivan, and the 3rd person Identified was Selina Bishop. The Helzers had created a cult named The Children of Thunder and believed that Taylor was chosen to bring about the second coming of Christ But he needed millions of dollars to do that. They recruited a girl named Dawn Godman. In a surprise move.,Taylor Helzer pleads guilty, but his brother, Justin pleads not guilty By reason of insanity. Taylor had been the Steinman's Stockbroker. Taylor's plan was to get the Steinmans to write checks that would empty out all of their retirement accounts. Taylor targeted Selina because she was young and naive. He lied about an inheritance and turned her into an unwitting pawn. She was lured over to the house and hit over the head with a hammer, the Steinmans were stabbed to death and The reason why Jenny was killed was because she had met Taylor Helzer one time when she came over to borrow something from Selina. Jenny was in the wrong place at the wrong time And was basically killed because she saw Taylor's face. Along with her daughter and and the Steinmans. 5 people died for nothing and the Helzer's were Sentenced to death. In 2013 Justin hung himself in his cell. His brother is still on death row.
So you see that the song WAS originally written By bishop about Jenny. What happened to her daughter and herself was completely and utterly horrible. To know that such a great song that was written for a great woman And and then to know what happened to that woman and Bishop's child Was just absolutely heartbreaking. So to say the lyrics were dumb..... Is actually really sad because Of what happened to the woman the song was written about. You should really check out this story because The song that was written was really about a woman that he met. The story of what happened to the woman and Bishop's daughter is so sad that I have no more words.
This is a classic song. There is nothing to explain, he fools around and then falls in love. LOVE. How can you put true love in to words, it's so powerful, so he sings ...and I fell in love. Nothing more to say. The background music and and the whole vibe of the song is a description of love. Righteous/religious, mysterious, sad, passionate, deep. It's hard to put love in to words. That's what I love about this song. It's like he is saying, I fell in love man, what more can I say. Unless you have fallen deeply in love you just won't really get it.
