Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride) Lyrics

Drive it on up and let's cruise a while
Leave 'em very far behind
You can hedge your bet on a clean corvette
To get you there right on time
Now if you're ready to dive into overdrive
Baby the green lights are on
It's like you're runnin away on some high octane
Every time she reached the boulevard

Won't you take a ride, ride, ride
On heavy metal
It's the only way that you can travel
Down that road
Satisfied, fied, fied
On heavy metal
Baby won't you ride
Ride it until it explodes
Heavy Metal

My oh my how this lady can fly
Once she starts rollin' to leave you
You know you just can't lose the way she moves
You wait for her to finally release you
It's not a big surprise to feel your temperature rise
You've gotta get your redline fever
'Cause there is just on cure that they know for sure
You just become a heavy metal believer

Won't you take a ride, ride, ride
On heavy metal
It's the only way that you can travel
Down that road
Satisfied, fied, fied
On heavy metal
Baby won't you ride
Ride it until it explodes

it's about driving a car in space I think. It was very good in that 1981 animated movie.. Heavy Metal

There are some mistakes on this:

Corrections:

Fire it on up and let's cruise a while, Leave your troubles far behind.

My oh my, how this lady can fly, Once she starts rollin' beneath you.

It's not a big surprise to feel your temperature rise, You've got a touch of redline fever.

It's definitely about driving his clean corvette. One of my favorite cruising songs. The correct lyrics support this.

It's a motorhead'd love song about his Corvette. Redline fever refers to maxing out the rpms, and trust me, if you go over too long the engine explodes. Seen it. Racing is such an adrenelin rush, nothing like it on the ground except on your fast fast fast bike. Riding a motorcyle's the closest thing to flying on the ground you can get...but this song is totally about hitting it in your Vette. Or your '69 Stang that will eat a Vette for lunch...dude! any other intrepretation is completely esoteric and not in keeping with the lyrics, Nacho84, if you know anything about racing.

We'll hit the street with this blaring when we take our '81 350 (right now) Vette out and it is just so cool. Both from the same year, lol.

Sorry, L82 350...

This song kicks ass in a major way.

There are 2 possible meanings to this song.

1 is the straightforward version: A song about driving fast in a Corvette.

2 is the one looking at possible metaphors: A song about having sex.

My Interpretation

Yeah, I'd say all the commenters are right. This song is simply about driving and/or screwing... likely both. But the guitar... just some of the smoothest, coolest rifts ever. Vastly under-rated. Same goes for Felder's "All Of You". Those two, along with Hagar's "Heavy Metal" are the best parts of the album "Heavy Metal: The Soundtrack."

The song's clearly about sex. "Satisfied on Heavy Metal... Baby won't you ride, ride it until it explodes".
