..From Across The Kitchen Table (Album) Lyrics

In a cheap hotel room the miraculous way you bucked up
when I said you were incredibly beautiful
remember Arthur Seaton said he won't be beaten
look at jimmy price what with the weight of Christ
I don't know they say maybe it's the water across the kitchen table
and I don't know they say maybe it's the water

you saved my life, I fought you
you should have told me to stop
oh, why did you let me keep on going for you?

you saved my life, I fought you
you should have told me to stop
oh, why did you let me keep on going for you?

i've seen all your hooks, read the important books
and thought about the disabled
but the only thing between you and me is the fact you laugh when i'm unstable
but I don't know they say maybe it's the water across the kitchen table
and i don't know they say maybe it's the water

yeh, you saved my life, I fought you
you should have told me to stop
oh, why did you let me keep on going for you?

[MUSIC]

Bada ba ba…Bada ba ba…Bada ba ba…Bada ba ba…
Bada ba ba…Bada ba ba…Bada ba ba…

yeh, you saved my life, I fought you
you should have told me to stop
oh, why did you let me keep on going for you?

you saved my life, I fought you
you should have told me to stop
oh, why did you let me keep on going for you?

you saved my life, and I rold you to STOP, STOP, STOP….

A very literate band that never seemed to get the success they deserved. Arthur Seaton - Saturday Night Sunday Morning (1960) Jimmy Price - boxer 1980s (and the gangster boss in the recent film Layer Cake!). Never really sure what the song was on about but I liked the theatrics of the lyrics and the great tune.

It's brilliant, I prefer Pacific Street as an album but this is far and away their best song.

Their songs are a bit like kitchen sink/domestic drama - like the the film Saturday Night Sunday Morning you mention or Look Back In Anger.
