Names Have Been Changed (to Protect the Guilty) Lyrics

Mark and Adam were best friends from the day they were born.
Couldn't separate them,
but then Congress declared war.
That's when Adam left town for the city to organize war protests,
and Mark enlisted in the army to finally get some respect.
Sometimes our beliefs get the glory
while our friends get the neglect.
While Mark was wounded overseas,
the cops beat Adam in the streets.
At the victory parade, Mark's Purple Heart began to weep.
Adam's face was red, with a sign that said "War Kills Our Chance For Peace"
and their friendship was just one more casualty.
