I assume Limbo here as meaning an intermediate place where some people are sent to while they are waiting for a 'judgment'. Thus the legendary Jimmy Cliff is expressing his faith in himself for beating all those people who have chased or betrayed him and, as a result of that, he was forced to put himself in a 'Limbo' for reflecting upon his own life until the right moment that his unshakable faith definitively releases him from all this suffering.
One of the sweetest songs I have ever heard . JGB used to play it often in the 70s . My favorite version is with Nicky Hopkins on piano on the Don't Let Go CD . Great piano work by Hopkins on this version .
