Store Bought Bones Lyrics
Down upon your hands and knees
Underneath the poplar trees
Digging through the sticks and stones
Looking for store bought bones
Waiting on the rising sun
Clutching at your holstered gun
Praying on a shooting star
That I can be wherever you are
Looking through a telescope
Maybe there's a sign of hope
Leaving everything behind
Staring at store bought minds
Sitting at the edge of the sea
Wishing you were here by me
Sifting through the mud and the bricks
Looking for a store bought fix
You can't buy what you can't find what you can't buy
What you find what you can't buy what you can't
What you can't buy what you can't find what you can't
You can't buy what you can't find what you can't buy
What you find what you can't buy what you can't
What you can't buy what you can't find what you can't
What you can't buy what you can't find what you can't
Underneath the poplar trees
Digging through the sticks and stones
Looking for store bought bones
Clutching at your holstered gun
Praying on a shooting star
That I can be wherever you are
Maybe there's a sign of hope
Leaving everything behind
Staring at store bought minds
Wishing you were here by me
Sifting through the mud and the bricks
Looking for a store bought fix
What you find what you can't buy what you can't
What you can't buy what you can't find what you can't
You can't buy what you can't find what you can't buy
What you find what you can't buy what you can't
What you can't buy what you can't find what you can't
What you can't buy what you can't find what you can't

A few corrections - it's "Sitting at the edge of the sea" and "Shifting through the mud and the bricks". I guess I could be wrong about the second line but that first correction is definately right. And I don't believe that Meg was on this album at all, no. I must say I really like this band though.
Can't believe that this is the first comment in eight yrs! Back to the song: I think it's finding your significant other, but on the other hand this would be too easy, can't really figure this one out...
@Plagues Glad to see us raconteur fans are still going strong in 2014

Well, my interpretation of this song is they're talking about triple c's, or Coricidin Cough and Cold medicine....which they've recently put behind the counter and/or are often sold out due to constant 'triple c theft' haha. "You can't buy what you can't find". 'Store bought bones' refers to the after effect of steady abuse...which is not pleasant, let me tell you. That lyric is actually "leaving everything behind, stirring a store bought mind...". Basically, this song is about a guy who's lonely for his somebody and he's "looking for a store bought fix" to render relief to his situation. Any comments on this?
Why no one comments about the raconteurs!!?? they are great I can't wait for their first album this song is amazing
me too:) they're amazing...
I usually go for the lyrical basis of songs but the guitar rip near the end of this song is CRAZY. X] Love them love them.
Sounds like a DIY anthem to me. Pretty straightforward.
And I think the actual lyrics is
"Looking for a store bought fix"
the last verse reminds me of red rain 'in the red in the red in the rain in the rain...'
and i think its about finding 'the one' and looking at all times
Jack's guitar solo in this song kicks ass
