Ten Thousand Lines Lyrics
We paint the future from this bedroom.
With lots of progress; cold and heartless.
And nothing lives, just twitches and moves.
It's all synthetic, but it's all we've got.
Thousands of wires spread through the halls.
Thousands of eyes live in our walls.
And now they can see just what we've done (oh no)
Now they can see what we've become.
No sun. Just radiation here. Get it by the lungful.
No time. No way to count the years.
Except by the creaking sounds in your bones.
They've got your name. They've got your number.
They've got your hopes, your dreams, your future.
They've got your loved ones by the throat.
And soon enough they'll let you know.
And I've learned enough to keep my mouth shut.
I've heard enough to watch my back.
And I've learned enough to become wallpaper.
And blend in with the cracks.
(We've thought too much; said nothing.
We've heard it all; there's nothing new.
We've seen the way to our undoing.
And the way to yours as well.)
Ten thousand lines run from our minds.
And ten thousand plans spread from our hands.
And now we can see just what we've done (oh no)
And now we can see what we've become (oh no)
And now we can see just where we stand.
With lots of progress; cold and heartless.
And nothing lives, just twitches and moves.
It's all synthetic, but it's all we've got.
Thousands of eyes live in our walls.
And now they can see just what we've done (oh no)
Now they can see what we've become.
No time. No way to count the years.
Except by the creaking sounds in your bones.
We've heard it all; there's nothing new.
We've seen the way to our undoing.
And the way to yours as well.)
And ten thousand plans spread from our hands.
And now we can see just what we've done (oh no)
And now we can see what we've become (oh no)
And now we can see just where we stand.

love love love this song...its impossible to get sick of!
Maybe what the world would be like after the next world war?
hahahaha "just radiation here, get it by the lungful"
The PlayRadioPlay! cover of this song is incredible; the original version is incredible. I love this song. The lyrics are spectacular.
I like the 'goddammit' part of the song. Everybody likes this song, if you don't like this song you should punch yourself in the face.

i definitely wasn't a fan of the playradioplay cover. i like his music, and i even liked his cover of 'mr. brightside,' but i really think he butchered this song. i know he's straightedge or whatever, but i couldn't understand his reasoning for taking out the 'goddammit.'
i agree with the liger about that. it's necessary for the song. just by hearing silence and all of a sudden that word, you really get the sense of hopelessness in the rest of the piece. just by removing that, it kills the song. not to mention there were some sound issues in the cover that just weren't as pleasing to the ear as the original.
I love this song too, but what does it mean? I mean I know that it feels, like you're trapped. And I can pick up on all the feelings I get listening to it. But like, is there a certain thing it's supposed to symbolize?
Its about dreaming big and then waking up one day to find you out grew your dreams. The guitar is like an alarm bell. Its capturing that moment when you wake up and realized you accomplished nothing.
The thousands of eyes is feeling the world ready to show you that you failed, and believe me, it always will.
The last part where he says they've got your loved ones your future etc. Its about blame, he cant accept that his dreams not happening were him and him alone. No one ever really stopped him and thats where that creeping nature of insanity comes from. An unwillingness to accept who he is.
My interpretation anyways
