Fourteen Lyrics

The sky is red ...
The sky is green
Our love is like ... a summer dream
Alive and free, alive and free
You can be what you want to be
I close my eyes ... and try to see
The things I always thought I dreamed
Coloured gleams, coloured gleams
Come alive in front of me ...

Summer breeze, summer breeze
I close my eyes ... and try to see
A sunset now, with all its gleams
Of summer hopes and summer dreams
Alive and free, alive and free
You can be what you want to be
I close my eyes ... and try to see
The things I always thought I dreamed ...

This is one of my favourite songs. Dreamy and ethereal, freedom tingling through me and a mess of colours. " Alive and free" , " you can be what you want to be " to me, this sounds like a want for self-discovery and liberation. Wishing to go through some sort of transformation, personal to yourself. Mentioning the sky, summer and breeze reminds me of how life is one without a boundary , you can confuse dream and reality; nothing is stopping you. The song finds the short, but strengthening moments of hope, where you can close your eyes and witness your inner desire forming itself in life. A world where the mind's own eye creates " coloured gleams" of your personal memories and wants. I think this song is a celebration of dreaming, how free it is to be authentic. How is living anything but true?
