I'll never let you stand alone
You'll always have my hand to hold
Our lengthy talks never get old
You're gonna change the world you know

And I said
Hey sunshine, don't you get yourself upset
Giving more than the world may ever know
So tilt your head towards the sun, you've got brighter days ahead
Don't you worry that your life will be cut short

I know you're scared, but so am I
We can read each other's minds
Through the windows in our eyes
You know you've got a lot of life

And I said
Hey sunshine, don't you get yourself upset
Giving more than the world may ever know
So tilt your head towards the sun, you've got brighter days ahead
Don't you worry that your life will be cut short

All the joy and the pain that you gave from the tears
That run with the rain
Yeah you've been so brave through all the pain
But let's not worry our lives away
You know you've given life meaning

And I said,
Hey, hey sunshine
Don't you worry that your life will be cut short
Tilt your head towards the sun cause you've got brighter days ahead
Don't you worry that your life will be cut short

no no no

I think this song doesn't necessarily have to be about a relationship. I think the person she's singing to is really sick or something, and she's trying to encourage them by saying don't worry about it, you'll be fine, and you've already done so much with your life. But yeah, it's really sweet. (:

yeah I like this song. I think it sums up how you should feel about the person you love, you believe in them and you've got their back when they are feeling down.

this song is amazing.. after my best friend died on january 24th 2007 i listened to it every night and it got me through everything.. its encouraging when you're in a state of depression like that.. sending a good message that things WILL get better... when it says dont worry that your life will be cut short.. in my head that was telling me. no matter how depressed you are, or how depressed you get, dont do anything stupid. (i know thats not what it was intended to mean, but for me those were my words of wisdom) i think it actually means dont worry about death, you never know when you're going to die, so you cant be sad, you have to tilt your head towards the sun cause there are brighter days ahead. and life is too short to be anything but happy.

i dont know, all i know is that this song gave me hope in a time of grief... i found comfort in it when i couldnt find comfort in anything at all. this song saved my life.

    Memory

In May 2008, I played this song while my husband was in a coma & recovering after being hit by a car while walking home. It reminds me of all the hardships that we went through to get where we are today, 15 years later. We hold onto these lyrics & apply them to each other for different reasons since one of us almost died & one of us was keeping watch as we both hoped that neither of us would have our lives cut short. His physical & mental pain were bouyed by the fact that we had twins on the way & he had a family to live for. As for me, I was hoping for his recovery & playing this song over & over was a promise to him that I would never leave his side. I kept that promise & he pulled through. We have a wonderful family & can still just look into each other's eyes & know what the other is thinking.

This song was an oath we made to each other, as well as a pep talk & a love song for life. If it wasn't for this song, I truly believe I wouldn't have gathered the mental strength needed to get up each day to face his horrific injuries & pain while 8 months pregnant.

He believes this song, being played to him while in coma, brought him back home. Everything in his memory was disappearing until he heard this siren song of love & longing. He opened his eyes & remembered only me. It truly saved our lives.

Wherever you are, Jinxed, thank you from the bottom of our hearts 🥰!

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
