It’s getting cold.
Thought it was too soon to tell but it was terribly old and as the heartbeat slows to a heartless crawl.
The lights went out
The lights went out and darkness filled the house on tiring night under a Long Island sky
I thought I‘d known the consequence
but sweetness, can you believe this?
This mess we‘ve made of it.
This mess we‘ve made of it.
In years to come it might make sense
but sweetness, did you believe this?
And what‘s become of it?
What‘s become of it?
If you hear this and you think you‘re ready, then meet me in Montauk where we‘ll write out in the sand
Here lies the destiny of 2 hurt souls afraid to be cured again.
That could be our epitaph
I thought I‘d known the consequence
but sweetness, can you believe this?
This mess we‘ve made of it.
This mess we‘ve made of it.
In years to come it might make sense
but sweetness, did you believe this?
And what‘s become of it?
What‘s become of it?
I thought I‘d known the consequence
but sweetness, can you believe this?
This mess we‘ve made of it.

In years to come it might make sense

And what‘s become of it?
What‘s become of it?
I know

This song's got to be about eternal sunshine on a spotless mind. See it. It's a good show, maybe as good as this song.
See the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to understand the relationship between the narrator and his love.
'meet me in montuak' by circa survive is also based on eternal sunshine
Awsome song. The " but sweetness..." bits are so god damn catchy. I've had them in my head all day. If you don't have this album i command you to go and buy it NOW. xx
agreed, sir
agreed, sir
i think it could be about eternal sunshine. just the way he DESCRIBES the conflict between the 2 lovers. this is SO emotional 4 me. and this is hands down their best album yet! buy it.
Im thinking its definently some relation to the movie...
in the scene where the memory is crumbling around him, and he stays with Clementine while its being torn around him, you hear her whisper "Meet me in Montauk" very quietly. Its a key point in the story and sets up the end of the movie.
Also, if you notice in the song the lyrics go: If you hear this and you think you're ready, THEN MEET ME IN MONTAUK... just like in the movie.
gotta be related
This is quite obviously based on Eternal Sunshine. If you haven't seen it, do so, and then think about it and this song.
I thought I'd known the consequence (When he went to get the memory removal thing done, he thought he knew what he was doing. He thought it was what he wanted, but those who have seen the movie know that midway through the procedure he wants out.) Sweetness, can you believe this Mess we made of it, this mess we made of it? (During the procedure, in his mind he's with her going through memories. He can't believe what he's done and regrets doing so.) In years to come, this might make sense (When they meet again after having their memory erased, then get the tape and records mailed to them about the procedure, they're confused.) Sweetness, did you believe this? And what's become of it, what's become of it? (He's pretty much asking her if she thought this would happen.)
If you hear this and you think you're ready, meet me in Montauk where we'll write out in the sand (Like 6stringmelody said, there is a scene where you can her here whisper "Meet me in Montauk." That line alone in the song is what made me thing of Eternal Sunshine, and made me start thinking about the rest of the song.)
The song could very well be about something else, but if you think it about it, Eternal Sunshine just makes sense.
how in hell has no one commented on this song...to me, its one of their best...i saw them preform this acoustic and it was one of the best songs they did
This song is probably the best song off of the whole album.
Mmm.. you got to love this song.
People commenting on why no1 has commented. The biggest quesition is why no1 had uploaded it before me. I was half shocked when I saw no1 had.
My favourite song from Bayside and I love all their songs.
I'm not sure about what he sings after "If you read this and you think you're...."
It doesn't sound like the lyrics posted but they make sense...
