Million Voices Lyrics
Ni dyar'izuba, Rizagaruka, Hejuru yacu,
Ni nduzaricyeza ricyeza.
Rwanda, Rwanda,
Yeah Rwanda, Rwanda.
They said: "Many are called and few are chosen,"
But I wish some wasn’t chosen
for the blood spilling of Rwanda.
They said: "Meshach Eshach and Abednego,
Thrown in the fire but you never get burned,"
but I wish that I didn't get burned in Rwanda.
They said: "The man is judged according to his works,"
so tell me Africa, what’s your worth?
There’s no money, no diamonds, no fortunes
on this planet that can replace Rwanda…
Rwanda Rwanda
Yeah, Rwanda Rwanda
These are the cry of the children
Rwanda Rwanda
Anybody hear my cry?
If America, is the United States of America,
Then why can’t Africa, be the United States of Africa?
And if England, is the United Kingdom,
Then why can’t Africa unite all the kingdoms and become United Kingdom of Africa?
Rwanda Rwanda, Rwanda Rwanda
Yeah, yeah.
These are the cries of the children, yeah.
Can anybody out there hear our cries?
Yeah, heavens cry ... Jesus cry.
Lord, did you hear us calling you?
Yeah, Rwanda Rwanda,
Lord, did you hear us calling?
Can you do something in Rwanda?
Rwanda Rwanda, Rwanda Rwanda
I’m talkin' 'bout Jesus; talkin' 'bout
Rwanda Rwanda Rwanda
Talkin' 'bout … talk'n 'bout ...
Talkin' 'bout … talk'n 'bout ...
I wanna play my guitar for Rwanda...
Ni nduzaricyeza ricyeza.
Yeah Rwanda, Rwanda.
But I wish some wasn’t chosen
for the blood spilling of Rwanda.
Thrown in the fire but you never get burned,"
but I wish that I didn't get burned in Rwanda.

I love this song. So beautiful. It's obvious what the song is about so no real need to explain. I have two favorite parts. The first being the lyrics "There’s no money, no diamonds, no fortunes on this planet that can replace Rwanda…" because sometimes it seems like many can't take a step back. They don't realize how valuable and priceless people, cultures, or the planet in general are. I can't understand why we are destroying these things. My second favorite part is when he says "I wanna play my guitar for Rwanda" I just love the sound at this part and how passionate he is for the cause, like he just wants to play for everyone that lost their lives and for those that survived .....just my thoughts.
My least favorite part of the song was where he asks why, if America and Britain had the United States of America and the United Kingdom, we should have the United States or Kingdoms of Africa. What people who say this don't appreciate is that these "United" entities were built on bloodshed and genocides - successful and effective genocides. We don't need that in Africa. All the people who suggested the same thing on a politically serious level, like Ghaddafi or Nkruma, always envisioned themselves as the rulers of this "united" kingdom of Africa, much like Napoleon or Hitler and...

All the people who suggested the same thing on a politically serious level, like Ghaddafi or Nkruma, always envisioned themselves as the rulers of this "united" kingdom of Africa, much like Napoleon or Hitler and all similar European wackos saw themselves as rulers of their continent. We need to stop talking about pointless political unions and talk more about lifting Africans up from poverty by improving trade within the continent. Having a "united" kingdom of Africa serves no purpose and would not even protect the continent from colonialism if the West or other foreign enemies wanted to bring that back. We need to collaborate and compete with each other as Africans before we can take on the rest of the world.
this song plays in the credits of Hotel rwanda i cried so much
Yeah, the movie 'Hotel Rwanda' is a very nice movie. It's realy worth to see, it gives you a great image of what happened in Rwanda during the genocide of the Hutu's killing the Tutsi's. We were watching this movie in class and a lot of people just started to cry when this song was playing while those poor Tutsi's were just left alone by the UN-soldiers. Great song and great movie!
Personally I think the lines 'They said: "The man is judged according to his works," so tell me Africa, what’s your worth?' speaks the truth: It's the Africans who must help themselves, europe/usa may help for a while but ultimately it is them that must create their own kingdom and unity. Just like China and India have recently risen from the mire(well not fully..), why couldn't Africa?
@Durang0 I agree. It would help if the West keeps a distance. They seem to make things worse. We are talking about Rwanda and the crimes that were committed there today because the rebels won there. Something similar happened in Biafra, and due to the involvement of Britain and the Russians, the genocidal Nigerian forces won the war and tried to sweep everything under the carpet. Their weapons were supplied by the Brtish and Russians. Today, the world does not acknowledge or know anything about the Biafran genocide. And the country, Nigeria, has become a cesspool of violence, destruction and corruption....

And the country, Nigeria, has become a cesspool of violence, destruction and corruption. Some of the terrorists that have made news in Britain and the US are terrorists from the parts of Nigeria that the West supported during the Nigeria-Biafra war! Africans must be allowed to determine their own future. The new Biafran separatists movement are seeking separation peacefully, asking for a referendum. This is their right. Again, the British government and even the American envoys are speaking against this with total ignorance of the issues, the same kind of ignorance and indifference they had during the Rwandan genocide.
